Sage, here's to a speedy and full recovery. I would suggest that you use your downtime to figure out the most likely cause(s) and then take steps to prevent that cause in the future. Or, if it can't be completely eliminated, figure out what you can do to reduce the risk of it reoccurring.
As you are doing this, keep in mind that the traditional medical system doesn't really know what to do with people like us who don't want to just be "not sick," we want to be in optimal health.
The RDA of vitamins, for example, is based on what the average person needs to stay "not sick." If you aren't doing so already, you should look into what science and research say about nutrition and vitamins for athletes. Just to be clear, I'm not saying that vitamins are a miracle cure. I'm saying that your exercise routine puts a LOT of stress on the body and the immune system.
I don't know your diet so I can't comment on it. I will say that a lot of foods in the western diet are inflammatory and that inflammation increases the risk of virtually all diseases.
You're young and you can beat this, but don't just beat it... learn from it. I don't know what you'll learn, but it's your journey. There's a lesson there. Find it.
Sending healing thoughts for a full recovery.
