JAKIR WILL COME BACK IF THIS HAPPENS!!!

Yeah they looked like flats to me. Hmm?!
I was talking about this one:

You’ll never see Big Mak again after that French gym bag incident.

Jakob ran 3:28 last year. There is an entire level between that and 3:31.
Now 5000m is a different topic. While I believe Jakob would still win, Katir could give him a run for his money.
I meant as far as what event Katir would choose to run in the Olympics. He's run 3:33, but unless that were to drop a couple of seconds at least I think the 5,000 is his better event pick. That 5,000 he just ran is more impressive than a 3:33. Granted, once he runs a DL 1500 we should find out more.
The dude has spent a ton of time training in Sierra Nevada, a national high altitude center in Spain, like the one the US has in Colorado Springs.
In fact he’s been there with Jakob Ingebrigtsen, and many others.
I mean, he could have been tested daily. He has not been hiding in some hidden town in nowland Morroco.
I hope this guy becomes MacDaddy 2.0. You're move, Hocker.

What’s the ruling on wearing flats/carbon plates/stack heights on the track?

Asics prototype long distance track flats (spikeless). They are on the list of development shoes approved by World Athletics

Spanish-Moroccan
definitely not doping then
I don´t think this 5000m race looks particularly suspicious considering Mo Katir´s performances in the 1500m and the 3000m lately.
Mo looks like a guy who started training seriously rather late and since his only other 5000m is 3 years old it is natural that he can improve a lot in the 5000m as he has done in the 1500m and the 3000m.
Mo´s 5000m 13:08.52 gives 1179 points according to Worldathletics´ ranking.
His 1500m 3:33.62 gives 1194 and his indoor 3000m 7:35.29 gives 1231 so his 5000m time is the weakest of the 3.

+1 it would be very difficult for him to evade the testers especially in this day and age. Ouassim Oumaiz, fellow Spaniard of Moroccan origin also ran the race, but dropped out.
If he was on the sauce (Katir) how do you explain a very disappointing performance of Ouassim?
In all likelihood, this guy (Katir) is clean and it’s a logical progression.

Shut up doping apologist.
Interesting article about Katir and he’s been in Spain since the age of four and has basically no ties to Morocco. It’s sad to see all this suspicion over what appears to be a legit performance. Jacob Ingebrightsen knows him well and sometimes trains with him in the Sierra Nevada and has never had any doubts about this guy as far as we know
This guy has been living in Spain since age 5 and some of you on Letsrun are automatically thinking Moroccan == Doper. I know some of you voted Trump but let's have an open mind here, please.
Watch these interview with him (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Az8sy2acApw
,
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FN3LCeqx3G0
). His is fluent in Spanish and even his accent is on point. This can only be achieved if you have lived in a country in your formative years.
That 13:08 in crappy conditions is worth sub 13 in ideal conditions (ALL times were subpar in that meet). Even the commentators said this. He ran 54 seconds last lap as well.
It's good to see Spaniards start to rise.
This man is the pride of Spain.
Whilst other Spanish athletes were training in Uganda with Cheptegei in some remote dodgy village, Katir has been in Spain training on his own, getting the miles in, and writing poetry.
Unlike other Spanish-Morrocans that have been involved in doping in the past, he is isolated from dodgy Morrocan athletes and seems to have no ties with Morroco, his family origins are actually Egyptian.
He's racing 1500 in Monaco next. Expect big things. I'm curious to see if he'll be able to carry this form all the way 'till Tokyo or he will fade...
The first thing the guy does after crossing the line is yell "mama the quiero" at the camera.
Can't get more Spanish than that tbh

Te* quiero
Blasted autocorrect
In this interview, he says he ran a 2 x 1K off 6' workout in Nike Pegasus 36 2:18 for both Ks.
I love him. Hopefully he doesnt disappoint anybody, and I am not talking about his performances...
Anyway Spanish middle distance is apparently coming back after some years in the shadows.
