Comparing track guys almost 50 years apart? Why not compare Pre to Nurmi???

ok well it is also irrelevant to say Pre was better on the world stage as if that makes him faster than Kiptoo. Not relevant in comparing them at all.

The truth is I do not care at all about this subject and I must have been bored to chime in. Who really cares who was better between Pre and Kiptoo? Nobody who has a life would care, especially when nobody knows anyway. There are too many variables for anyone to even know the answer even if the answer mattered. Of course this is a message board where the trivial is understandably often discussed.

Kiptoo is better.

His teammate, Kurgat, the 2019 NCAA cross country champion, is just as good when he is at his best. I wouldn't be shocked to see Kurgat compete for the win in the 10k at NCAA's.

And Kurgat beat Kiptoo in the 5000 earlier in the year, 13:20 to 13:21. Kiptoo is, arguably, not even the best runner on his team, depending on the day.

And he killed everyone.

This is a stupid thread. Kiptoo is going to be 33 years old in a few months. When Pre was tearing it up at Oregon, he was between the ages of 18 & 22. You can’t compare the two.
