I think you're right. There is a video of him from a few years ago where he speaks without barely any accent and sounds much more normal.

Very strange that he chooses to put on this fake accent.

The Neko Young workout someone just posted is the first time I really listened to him. Really strange way to speak for a highly educated American born individual. It must be interesting to hear a Galen-Mike Smith convo since Galen has an unusual way of speaking with a kind of squeaky voice.

And I know most coaches don't want to see the later romantic relationships with runners begin, but they do and some even during inappropriate time frames.

Accents don't fall away completely for minutes at a time and then return for one or two words at a time, which is why I say that it is a way of emphasizing or stressing certain words when he is trying to stress them or make people jump to attention about something in particular. Anyway, show some respect for the best xc coach in America on the male side, with three out of the last four titles (one for Heins with Smith as assistant added on there).
