No. I do not assess people according to their natural ability. If you are young and slow you are still likely as fast as you will ever be. Run while you are young. There is a reason they put old horses out to pasture. As far as consistency goes surely you must understand that when I say taking running seriously I am largely referring to the ones still chasing some bizarre semblance of glory in an attempt to assert they were, for example, first in their age group at a local road race. This is just one example. There is nothing inherently wrong with trying to keep fit, of course, but anyway the usual suspects came out of the woodwork to prove my point. Thank you.

I was a rock star when I won the triathlon at my gym as the oldest guy there. Was pretty close to out of the pool too, good thing I could bike and RUN cause I loved all the stoke and the compliments and young guys trying to get me to do Spartan things , cause I'm strong as an ox too.

Broke 6 in the first time I ran the mile in the 7th grade as a stand around player (baseball) 5:48. I am going to have fun running a six minute mile this year at 60 as a bass fisherman.

What I didn't do was spend excessive time and energy to be the mediocre runner that I am when I should have been working and raising my family. I worked and raised my family. I earned the right to get onto running if I feel like it. I am insecure AF to.

I'm not upset in the least. No whimpering from me, you are just deflecting from criticism of your own failure to be precise. And as I am not trying to be competitive, I have no reason to suspect you are paying any attention at all to my efforts. That's just unwarranted projection on your part.
