Perhaps that is what is holding back the attendance to the point where there are only 5 heats of 5,000s today?
Hannah seagrave with a big kick to take 1500 in 4:12. Tuohy 4th in 4:16.76, just ahead of Rainsberger
Seagrave set the meet and facility record.
Tuohy had a nice race. I think that is her second fastet time at the distance. She ran 4:14 her sophomore year of high school.

She was pacesetting. Looked fine.
Thanks. Makes sense.
Yup, Shalane Flanagan lost her facility record.

Looks like Tuohy is entered in the 1500m and 5000m but they are right after each other although it says there is a 2 hour gap between start times. I wonder if she's going to double or just focus on one of the races. I don't think she's ever run a 5000m outdoors before so that could be interesting. Based on her 3k time indoor she could be around 15:50 5k shape or faster. The NCAA auto qualifying times for 1500m and 5000m are 4:21 and 16:10 so she should definitely have a shot at getting those.
Tuohy is pacing the 5k.

No. Covid is why they reduced entries. Faster standards. Less people. Big breaks between events to prevent overcrowding.
Maybe this was already mentioned in another thread but the coach hennes gave an interview with Flotrack
The only thing I really found interesting was that looks like the whole team will be back next fall to try to win it
And Katelyn Tuohy did have a knee procedure done in June which was originally scheduled for March and was pushed back because of covid
Anyway should be a great battle with BYU next year if BYU gets its whole team back as well.
How are you watching the meet? Is there a stream somewhere? It's not on FloTrack.

That's a little faster than I would have thought based on her 1200 legs. Nearly beat the 4th place finisher of Indoors.
How do you know?
Tuohy as the 5k rabbit? A little irony here, I'll have to find all the old threads that complain she always goes out too fast.
The 1500 today was actuAlly her best college result to date. The 4:16.5 is roughly a 4:35 mile, right in line with her high school bests. (And pretty close to even splits) It's quite promising that her fitness is improving on almost a week to week basis. Nice season start too from Mareno.
Who is pacing this thing? First Herberg, then Tuohy, now the pro athlete.
Great race by Katie Wasserman (15:33). Broke her 3000m PB during the race (9:28) and came close to her mile PB in the last mile of the race. Also close to her 800m PB in the last 800m (she ran her last lap in 64 sec and her 800m PB is 2:12)

Yea, no idea what Happened. Chmiel was right with Chelangat until 7,200 m, then darn near got lapped, even though she only slowed a bit.
I’m in Raleigh watching the races, so sorry about giving some late info for the community! It was clear from the announcer that Steelman was the pacer for the race. She dropped back after about 4 miles and ran in lane two to support and cheer on Kelsey Chmiel. She ran beside her for about 2 laps and then dropped out and cheered. She is fine, nothing happened to her.
Savannah Shaw just went 15:40 in the 5k for 3rd place and looked awesome for NC State. The Wolfpack is definitely the team to watch next year. If Shaw is running this now as their 5th runner.....watch out!!!!! Henes is a very underrated coach in the NCAA.
15.40? Really? That's fast
Faster than any nc state runner this winter. How come she wasn't higher at across country then?
Katelyn Tuohy with a really fast time too
NC state should kill it at cross next year. .. crazy top 4 and lots of depth. If Savannah shaw keeps improving like this make that a crazy top 5. They could put five in the top 20
