I decided to grab a half pint/Coke and have some fun, cheap thrlls.
Start off with this...
Since 1947 and the first world ranking in Track and Field News 18 times white Sprinters have been the number one 200m ranked sprinter in the world, 11 times in the 100m.
At 100m we don't find a white sprinter until we find LeMaitre at number 292, we see three white 200m sprinters starting at 52 with Guliyev, then Lemaitre, then Kebderis all way before 292.
So if talking world rankings....200m, if talking quality times.....200m.
Allen Woodring was a WR100 man at 9.6, but he was an Olympic champion at 200m, and just an alternate.
Tom Jones was a 9,4 guy at UCLA,, he did nothing there, at 200m an NCAA Champion.
Mike Agostini was a unique dude, a white sprinter out of Trinidad, as a 100m man he took 6th in the Olympic 100m. at 200m he took 4th.
Roland Locke took third in the NCAA 100m,, at 200m he took second and a 5th and ran a WR 200m, talking 20's there.
All these guys were more accomplished at 200m than the 100m a quick Google search if ya doubt me.
Pietro Mennea Olympic gold 200
Livio Berruti Olympic gold 200
Jackson Sholtz Olympic gold 200
Thane Baker Olympic silver and bronze, and a WR 200
Helmut Koring WR100 but Olympic 200 bronze
Mel Patton Olympic 200 gold
Hal Davis close but won more National 200 titles
Rodney Richards USA 200 Champ, never finished better than 6th in the 100
Jerry Bright
Franz Peter Hoffmeister
Philip Cleric
Manfred Ommer
Ben Vaughn
Geir Moen
Damien Marsh
Ramil Guliyev................World gold
Kenderis.....................Olympic gold
Larry Questad.......200 Olympian
Kevin Little
Forestt Beatty
Christophe LeMaitre.......ranked third in the world in the 200
Mark Lutz....200 Olympian
Bobby Morrow a wash.
I will gurantee Matthew Boling will accomplish more at 200m than he will at 100m.
San Jose State had a short white guy, Wayne Herman he was a 9,4 100 cat, at 200m he took 6th in the NCAA, didn't make the 100 final.
Now there are white sprinters who never run the 200m at all like stubby Darel Newman. Then we have Peter Norman who was a 200m man only. Not talking about them I am talking about those who run both events like a Boling, when we see that situation "MOST" the time the 200m is where they find their most success.
Boling is not making our Olympic team in the 100m, but, just maybe the 200m proving my point.
