No a protest doesn't have to be filed if an official was there. Since the race was taking themselves very seriously I would think there was an official in the lead car. Was there a lead car? I couldn't see it from my spot. It would be ironic if a Transports filed a protest since they didn't speak to me for years since they think I filed one like 5 years ago (by the way I didn't).
What are the prizes for this race that it's always so fast? How far back can you be and still get some free jamba juice?

21.0 TEAM UNIFORMS/IDENTIFICATION
21.1 Each Grand Prix team member must have a clearly visible club affiliation on the racing uniform in a championship event. This requirement is satisfied by the wearing of a club's official singlet.
But this rule only applies to folks running in the Grand Prix. If this guy wasn't competing in the GP, the rule doesn't apply. USATF membership wasn't required to run the race either, only to earn prize money. The Starter was a bit too overzealous.
Easy there, sizzle chest. I can state with absolute certainty that no TranSports person filed a protest. I don't think anyone did...sounds like an official on the course made the call.
Regarding the prizes:
$200, $150, $100, $75, $50 + a $225 Jamba Juice gift card for all top 5 finishers. There is also team prize money for PA teams.
Sara Bei is not in college anymore, and seems to be sponsored by Asics. I tried to haze her a bit at the start, but she was so focused that she was able to completely block out my antics.

1. In all events competitors must wear clothing that is clean, designed and worn so as not to be objectionable. The clothing must be made of a material that is not transparent even if wet. The comptitors must not wear clothing that could impede the view of the judges. This rule shall be enforced by the Clerk of Course for track and road events and the Chief Judge of each field event.

i can see the big deal over winning say your weight's worth in wine, like they give to the winners at the napa marathon, but does anyone drink THAT much jamba juice? ive actually never had a jamba juice before, though. seems a little silly to pay $5, or whatever it is, for someone to blend a few pieces of fruit and sell it back to you at a 500% markup.
the race could get interesting if the bananas were instructed to drop banana peels along the race route. isnt this what race insurance is for?
