EMU has interviewed several candidates.
Sue can't find the right fit. Offered once and turned down. Looking for a big splash hire, hoping for a Power 5 hire. I think midyear change is a big obstacle here, too....
Cal updated their 2021 roster on their website and Mav is no longer listed as an assistant, so assumedly that position is available. Maybe he left? maybe they downsized because of covid?
No job post and no chatter makes me think they're not looking t fill anytime soon. The UC system got battered pretty badly with budget cuts, so maybe that position has disappeared?
There will be a new name coming to Cal soon.....

Why would the new and improved cal hire a distance guy, do they even have a squad now? Makes more sense to be another event area, they don’t care about the far runners anymore it seems.

Kind of seems like they have their person ready, I haven't heard much about the interview process from the people I know that applied. They very easily could have just not made the cut, however.

They should have hired a young and ambitious coach who wants to build a program instead they hired someone who was unsatisfied being an All-American at Portland who wanted to jump ship to go to Oregon LMAO

I just don't care about semi-pro or pro runners getting hyped up as great coaches or bad coaches. Let's get back to the open positions, and future positions. Handful of open positions that need filling, but some haven't even posted positions, others haven't made a decision. Any cuts in funding on their way (which would be relevant to open positions, as it would eliminate some) or new positions to be on the look out for?
Also, not really a response to "stranger things" just overall the thread and direction.

I think you have a personal issue with Dunbar and probably need to get over it. For the type of position that Darling left at Cal, they are just looking for a glorified director of ops and assistant to the assistant distance coach. This isn't some amazing position Dunbar would be accepting (assuming that this poster actually knows anything and it's unlikely they do). You do know Bobby Lockhart is already there, right?
For all we know they aren't hiring a new person, and maybe cancelled the position because of covid, forcing Darling to leave. There's a lot of unknowns here and they clearly haven't posted a new position yet that was at least highly publicized.
You sound a little butthurt over Dunbar leaving Portland. Maybe an old teammate? If you were a small town kid from Alaska and you saw all the amazing stuff Oregon was doing at the time, you'd probably want to go to Oregon too.

Clarke Kansas-small, have not had much history but could be a good spot for a new coach
Huntington- if the talent stays would be an amazing job, but obviously walking into what looks like a disaster of a situation with the former coach.
Indiana Tech- they have been good at track for awhile, seem to have had some good XC years as well. Previous cosch appears to be at SIU-E now.
Any reports if these are full time? None of the postings seem to mention.
