Weather looks good today -- low to mid 40s, no rain, light enough winds (6-8mph). Plenty of flat places to run fast in/around Eugene. Do we know anything about the course?
We are fans of such a poorly advertised sport. Hard to get excited for basically an American/Japanese half marathon record attempt when you get less than 24 hours of notice. I understand wanting to keep things tight with COVID but at the same time I don't. There have been pro races overseas. What is the harm in announcing this, trying to get some sponsors, and giving us a stream? What is the harm in going to race all the guys at the Michigan Pro Half? Even if you wanted to run faster, bring your own pacers.
FWIW Rupp definitely has the chops to threaten Hall's AR. What else has he been training for? No medals up for grabs today. No need for a tactical race. We'll find out every quickly with the opening 5k split to see what their plan is. I'd guess they go out right at 60 and try to squeeze some time down.
