Farah is the only one with sub 3:30 and sub 27:00, plus has a sub 13:00
Aouita had all bit sub 27:00 but a sub 1:44 and a #1 10,000 ranking one year displayed quite the range.
I don’t know why Jakob would be brought up ahead of a bunch of other guys with this ability.
Aouita's 800m 'potential' was no better than Jakob's.
Aouita's 800m pb at 22, when he'd been an 800m runner for over 4 years, was 3 seconds slower than 19 year old Jakob.
Even after Aouita started the blood doping and hgh in 83, his 800m times continued in the 1:45/1:46 range.
Until 88, when he actually became a dedicated 800m runner for an entire season - the only ever elite 5000m runner to drop down to 800m.
If Jakob gave up the 3000/5000 for a year, focused exclusively on improving his 800m speed for 12 months, and raced in every DL 800m, do you think he would still have a 1:46 pb at the end of it?
