Well certain runners look like they are jogging all the time - Centro, Brazier. I had a guy like that at Cornell - Owen Kimple. Super smooth form.

Anyway, same source said Engels ran 1:48 after going out in 50. 50 point, 58 point.

But back to the main topic at hand. Should we hand Donavan double 800 and 1500 gold or just give him like 1500 bronze at this point?

I got a text from a top HS coach. “Grant Fisher is not the best former Michigan high schooler running professionally on the west coast.”

“Correctomundo!” I replied facetiously. “I hear Ritz has finally put together a healthy block of 200+ mpw. Who are you really talking about?”

“This Brazier guy. Black dude. 1:42.34 American record last year. Never runs the mile. Just jogged a 3:35.85 1500 wearing fanny pack and headphones. Listening to Steely Dan on the headphones. Talent level doesn’t compare.”

Before you say this is totally ridiculous. The coach does have an eye. I was at the Brooklyn Zoo back in 2012 and he was there. He was looking at one particular exhibit and said “Look at that thing. It’s gonna be good.”

At the time, the animal in the exhibit was an infant silver dik-dik, a kind of small antelope from the Horn of Africa—she has since grown into an apparently healthy adult silver dik-dik.

Hmmm. Just last week the peanut gallery was saying jakobs 1:46 was slow.

Some of those same people put up Engels as a guy that would smoke Jakob even though Engels would not even be close to being in the same frame when Jakob is crossing the line in a 1500. They don't understand that Engels would not be able to access his speed at his 1500 PR pace and would get left in the dust.

So it’s impossible for someone to have gotten from the meet to Arizona before they posted here? Can you prove that?

I took a flight last night to Arizona, Don was on pace for the first 1k but died hard the last 600m and ran 3:52. He wanted to see how it would feel going out hard and he learned from it

Engels may have run 1:48 last night, but he has an 800m pr 2 seconds faster than Jakob:

800 Metres 1:44.68 Azusa, CA (USA) 09 JUL 2019 1183

1500 Metres 3:34.04 Boudewijnstadion, Bruxelles (BEL) 06 SEP 2019 1188

Just proves how fast Jakob could run in a real race. Craig was 4 seconds off so Jakob could run at least 1:43.

Do you really consider it relevant to compare 26 years old Engels´ PB with 19 year old Jakob´s early season 800m time?

If so, you should add that 15 year old Jakob ran a second faster in the 800m than 19 years old Engels did.

And that Engels didn´t break 1:46 before last year at 25!

Are you also singing the false melody that Jakob opposite to almost every other toprunner (inclusive Engels) will not improve into his twenties?

If not, do you acknowledge that Jakob has potential to be far better than Engels in the 800m as Jakob already has been in the 1500m for years?
