Hey, I'm all for rigor and accountability. If the WP's methods were sloppy, sure, others could expose that, and that would be fine. But two things:
1) Is the gist wrong? Of course not. He lies like you breath. ANY honest person sees AND admits that.
2) Less importantly, imagine the NYT's or anyone did rigorously scrutinize their numbers. Sure, it might justifiably make the WP look bad (which is fine), but what would it change about what we know about Trump? (the real important issue at hand) Nothing. The NYT would decide that the number OUGHT to be.....what, 25,000? 18,000? 10,000?
Then, we'd want to reconsider whether Donald is THE most shameless liar in the history of US politics?
