At some point, probably upon reaching NYC, he needs to void the "record attempt" and simply say "listen, I didn't do a good enough job of keeping track of my miles and time splits. We had the GPS in place, the tracker, but it didn't provide reliable data so I'm not going to submit this as a record. But really, it doesn't matter, I was out here meeting and greeting and I had the single best experience of my life. Thanks to all."

Yep, there has to be some concern that he can continue without a major rest. He's been able to gut out a couple on-pace days of around 60 miles each in the heat but it fell off in the past 24 hrs. He's only managed about 40 miles since Martinsville 24 hours ago. 58 miles/day for another two weeks looks very doubtful without serious risk.

Pretty sure When/if he makes it to the Dayton,OH area, I'd be able to keep up with him. I'll probably show up somewhere around there.

He won't drop the record attempt. He insists on visitors signing his paper logbooks to verify his run and other circumstantial evidence like brief videos and screen shots of data. It's been a minute since the first sentence was typed, plenty of time to push 'sync to strava 6 times but for a pro cyclist runner like RY could have been pressed 12 times.

Maybe that asher person has all the data and is preventing RY from releasing it to make him look bad. That makes sense. That asher who profits in no way, and has asked for nothing from this, that one?

Why, can Rob question Mark's run based on seemingly impossible pacing, but anyone that questions Rob is a hater?

Mark dropped his claim to the Guinness claim, but I can't find where he actually admitted to cheating.

Curtis again with Motel 6. I can also neither confirm or deny that 4 bearded gentlemen were disheveled, inebriated and rambling about Badwater vs Barkleys. IN addition, I can neither confirm or deny that an RV parked out front is out of gas.

So please do not call here trying to get any information. Hippa laws forbid me from disclosure.

His RV is parked north of the Motel 6 in Terre Haute. They drove back there.

In Roberts good days he ran swiftly until the late afternoon.

To be honest, unless they get in touch with the NYPD there is no way the RV is going all the way to the finish line. The cops out by the cornfields may give him a break for being on dangerous road but there is zero chance he would be allowed on a highway near NYC. The RV absolutely cannot cruise into Manhattan without police detail.

Unfortunately I will be on business travel on his planned arrival day, but I can try to arrange a live feed with a bored friend.

Could someone please indulge a Brit who has never been to the US and isn't going to in the foreseeable future: I can see from my new friend Google Maps just what lies between his current location and NC, including the Appalachians, but I'm genuinely interested to know:

a What weather is he likely to face over the next couple of weeks, assuming he continues?

b Are the routes across the Appalachians switchbacks with sustained but not awful inclines, or straight up and over?

c From what I've gathered your Interstates are like our motorways and have a no pedestrians rule (on a state by state basis?) - do they have a minimum speed limit for vehicles?

d Where do these attempts usually end in NY? What alternatives does he have to Times Square? I laughed when someone said they wouldn't be able to roll into NYC at 3mph - I thought the traffic was usually gridlocked anyway?!

I have huge faith in Laz, love his updates. I have trust in him that he'll advise medical support or an alternative route if RY and crew are seeming too suicidal. I've gone from angry indignation at RY's audacity and confabulations to a grudging pity for the pain he seems to be in now. Just how far will RY go to try to silence his critics? You must never forget that RY believes his own infallibility and propaganda, it would be psychologically catastrophic for him to ever admit to cheating or massaging the truth just a little. Like someone said so eloquently a few posts ago, he never ever expected this level of scrutiny and it's been a devastating shock to his system.

Several times I've tried to back off and stop watching this slow horror car crash from between my fingers, but it's addictive. We Brits are teaching you new words, and I'm learning a lot about ultra-running, which I suspect I will never ever have the fitness, speed or willpower to undertake. Age is not on my side and hasn't been for quite a while.
