I am old fashioned at heart and feel it important you meet qualifications for a job regardless of age, race , gender. Other thing is you will be consistent at said job and not be there for a year and gone. Know what you are signing up for in life

In Randy Cole's day Barton was very good.
Anyway, I believe the NJCAA has a different scholarship system than the equivalency used in DI/DII:
Track gets 20 counters
Cross Country gets 10 counters (these 10 must compete in cross but can compete in track without counting against track's 20)
A counter is any athlete on athletic aid of any amount.
Am I wrong?
Under this system it is highly incentivized to be well rounded if you have funding. I would bet they would hire a distance coach if they felt they got some decent applications.

While you are correct on the system, you don’t have to have legitimate XC athletes to get it done. Just look at the TFRRS results. Barton tends to put their 800m guys on XC LOIs to save space and max out their track LOIs. They will compete at the minimum amount of XC meets to say they did. They just won a national title with the longest contested distance for them at nationals being 1500m. They don’t need a true distance program and won’t have one.
I doubt the job will be posted either.

Yes. They hired a recent grad and this will be her first job.

The rule in the Jayhawk conference is that the school is not allowed to pay for the dorms, just tuition, books and fees. Before the big blowup in 2006 that cost some track coaches jail time, they were paying for the dorm fees through federal work study grants with no work being performed. So they were breaking federal law and the conference rules to effectively give full scholarships to athletes. I'm sure this was going on well before Lashley took over. Barton doesn't have that luxury anymore so are at a disadvantage compared to South Plains, New Mexico JC and some of the others who do pay full scholarships.

That tells you something about the guy in charge, insecure. Wants someone pretty who won’t question his methods, do whatever he says, and collect a check. She will be out of coaching in a couple years

I think they r gonna look into this later in the year. For now, Brad Wick will be coaching this xc season. Will he be there after the season as director or not? I dont know.
They are also looking for a sprints coach too. I heard Coach Watson left right after indoor season.

Those days are long gone brother. Too many insecure people that have nothing else to fulfill them so they need the security of not having someone who should elevate them. Iron sharpens iron but a lot of these guys in charge are plastic.
who is kstate looking at for their throws since watson is headed to lsu. and still a blank on kstate? Did hear csun is on hold with leadership in flux.
