Somewhere above I amended my statement. When Trump said he fired Comey because of the Russia investigation I assumed trump meant that he wanted to slow it. Especially since Comey had days before asked for more resources for the investigation.

And I'm 90% sure that it what trump meant.

But there is some small chance that what trump really meant was that despite asking for more resources, Comey was sandbagging the investigation. And a new guy was needed to dig deeper into the investigation of the Trump campaign and business.
