I don't think humility means what you think it means. You're saying she's faking cheeriness or lightheartedness, like pretending she's not disappointed. Has nothing to do with humility. And I don't see anything wrong with that. Would you rather see someone break down and complain and moan about their result? There's being authentic, but there's also being an adult and having a filter.

I'm a bit confused at the current Eugene results for Truett Hanes (shirtless jeans guy). Gun time shows 2:39:24, chip time says 2:34:45. By the way, this is truly bonkers after running 2:38 in Boston 6 days earlier, my quads just stopped being tender Sunday morning. I don't particular understand why this guy would have almost a 5 minute gun/chip time difference when he easily gets into the A corral at Eugene, unless he intentionally started at the back. I also find it VERY HARD to believe a clean guy sets on a 4-minute PB 6 days after PBing in Boston with a great negative split, even if Eugene is flatter and had better weather.

Lad's done good, great to see someone who spent his time competing for his club rather than doing brand deals and training camps in Kenya succeed.

He ran sub 2:35. Completely absurd. I also wish he would admit to the gear so as note to promote unrealistic performance expectations and body standards. But that's what these types do.

Because there are marathons across America and it’s easy to find marathons where you’ll have people to run with. There isn’t one 5k in 120 miles of me that’ll have one person under 17. Nobody cares about putting on competitive 5ks and 10ks. Marathoning is popular and competitive.

Lmao, his series of marathons is shaping up to be better than when Shalane ran the 6 majors in 7 weeks. This is a woman whose PR was 2:21 and won NYC in 2:26 just a few years earlier than the 6 majors stunt.

Agreed. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not trying to suggest Phily ran a better race. She had a shocker, Lucy ran a great race and ran a quicker time. All I’m trying to say is that I think it’s still completely fair for Phily to claim the title of 3rd Brit, due to the differences in circumstances and the elite womens race being the ‘A race’ to the mass starts ‘B race’.

We all know Phily’s about to make 8 million reels about how she came 3rd Brit at London, so I’m just getting ahead of all the criticism she’s going to get for that. Yes it will be bloody annoying, but it’s technically true.

tbh I don't see how this is any different to many thousands of people who ran today but also had to train for it around a full time job and kids, and pay for it themselves instead of kit drops, expensed trips to altitude and gifted gadgets

The Truett thing is suspect. You simply don’t run massive back to back marathon PRs within 6 days of each other without some significant help in the drug department. Nick Bare and his minions, with all their drugs, aren’t anywhere close to this. What’s this man taking? The only way it makes sense is if he is in 2:18 shape right now and massively underperformed at both races. Doubtful

He has a coach. Yet in his last marathon workout in training, he fell apart. Does he wonder why? Then he comes back down to cooler temperature, lower altitude. and less volume during taper and runs a few 6 minute repeats and decides he’s in 2:18 shape? It was the painful and embarrassing to watch, and worse he has a coach who should know better. Never has anyone more deservedly failed. A high school runner should know better. I think his hubris with his girlfriend joining his YouTube channel etc. earned him this fail.

Speaking of people who should admit to "the gear"...

Aka epo. It's absolutely ridiculous that the Eugene Marathon (which is a quality regional marathon) isn't testing the guy. He may well have started in corral B to avoid testing now that I think about it.

People like Nick Bare, Ross Edgley, and Shirtless Jeans Guy will never admit to taking gear.

Their ego and brand dictate that they look like comic book superheroes. Acknowledging gear would kill brand deals and the ability to sell supplements. I also think there are deep-rooted confidence issues, meaning they need to be constantly complimented by other dudes about being a jacked beast. Especially in Nick Bare's case, he's a very goofy-looking guy - being jacked masks this!

You can't just "drugs test" these charlatans at races. First, there is no financial incentive for the organisers to test. Second, even if they did, the non-randomised protocol means these guys could easily pass a test (Crossfitters rarely fail in competition drugs tests).
