Agreed. The thread topic itself is worthy of discussion, just delete the creepy posts about his girlfriend. I think her contact info is public, but the posts are still weird and unnecessary.

I communicated with their camp via email.
They sent me their written response that they had provided to Dan Howitt and answered a couple of questions.
Some of the answers do not explain in a reasonable manner why anyone would not want photo and video evidence of their biggest, record-breaking climb, but did explain that after investigations the climbs are being ratified or certified - whatever the word is, draw your own conclusion, I guess:

Essentially, we've all just been waiting for Jornet to release his photo and video evidence he says he has from his Ian Corless interview. I've done more analysis on Jornet's GPS file from his first claimed Everest summit and I don't think it was tampered with but it also doesn't show he summited. The altitude data could be explained by the barometric port freezing over at altitude but then the longitude and latitude points still shows that Jornet did not summit. Coupled with all the other problems with Jornet's evidence, this is very suspicious.
Jornet's movie, Path to Everest was released in early March 2018 but only in Spain. From the Spanish reviews of his film containing Jornet's "evidence" of him summiting Everest twice, all the reviews I've seen say the pictures and videos are from lower down the mountain or it is so dark that you can't identify anything. So much for Jornet trumpeting his "proof" around that we are not allowed access to.
And now Athletics Illustrated has some quotes from Jornet's PR company saying the Himalayan Database verified both his summits and that is what they are using to claim his records. I find this deeply disatisfying since there has been nothing published from the Himalayan Database about how they went about verifying or what evidence they based their conclusion on. Could this be like another Via Marathon with Barb McKeever doing the verification, only this time with no evidence of finishing? I think this is what should be pursued, to get clarification from the Himalayan Database about how they went about verification so that Jornet's record claims can be challenged.

The Athletics Illustrated article got me curious about what the Himalayan Database had on Jornet's Everest claims. I downloaded the Himalayan Database from their website and searched Jornet up. They do indeed list Jornet as successfully submitting Everest twice. This is what the database has on his Everest summits:

On 20 May, Jornet left CBC at 10 pm. Reached ABC at 2:30 am in running shoes. Had a 2 hours to rest and put on
mountaineering gear. Started again at 4:30 am. Got to C1 at 6:10 am on 21 May. Reached C3 at 11:30 am. He did not
use the fixed ropes and climbed the first two ladders on the Second Step. He used the last ladder on the Second Step.
He reached the summit at midnight. Spent about 10 minutes on the summit. It was clear and not so cold. On the summit,
he saw all the headlamps coming up, but no view in the dark.
From the bottom of the Third Step, he was passing people going up. He was suffering from an upset stomach, which
gave him more trouble than the high altitude. He reached ABC at 6 am.
He started to feel better at ABC. Monica Piris, the doctor for Alpenglow Expeditions, gave him some medication. On 23
May he descended to CBC, where he recovered. On 25 May he went back to ABC.
He had carried his rucksack to C3 and left it there on the last leg to the summit. He changed into his downsuit at 7700m.
Jornet wears a Salomon boot, which allows him to wear his running shoes inside.
From CBC to summit to ABC: 26 hours ascent; round trip 33 hours.
Second summit push:
On 27 May, he left ABC at 2 am. The reason why he went quite late was the weather forecast, which had predicted high
winds for later in the day. Reached C1 at 4 am. He did not make a note for C2. C3 at 10 am. Summit at 7 pm. The
weather was windy and snowy. He spent about 10 minutes in the summit.
On the way down to C3, he picked up his rucksack and continued for a bit, but then had a blackout. The next memory he
has is crossing over toward the North Face. He did not know how he got there. It was around midnight and he had the
urgency to sleep. At about 8000m he got under a rock in the rocky part around in the Norton Couloir. He does not
remember when left the North Ridge. The only memory he has is climbing toward the right. After having slept for about
2 hours, he woke up at 2 am, his brain was working again. He looked at the GPS and crossed back toward the North
Ridge. He thinks he went across the Messner Crossing to get back to the North Ridge again.
After sleeping for about 2 hours. And on 28 May he reached ABC at 6 am.
From ABC to summit: 17 hours; round trip back to ABC 26 hours.

I find it a bit odd that the Himalayan Database verifiers list Jornet as being at the top for 10 minutes on both his Everest summits but Jornet claims to Men's Journal that he was at the top for 15 minutes on his first claimed Everest summit.
I also find it odd that the Himalayan Database indicates Jornet as using the ladders set up by Sherpas on his claim. What's the difference between using the fixed ladders and not the fixed ropes? That to me kills any macho talk by Jornet about not using fixed ropes.
And yet again, we see no verifiable information, not even potential witness names. It seems like all the information the Himalayan Database got came from Jornet or his publicists.

How many climbers have sumitted Everest at night? I know a sherpa spent the night on top of Everest back in 99 but he summitted and descended during daylight.
Jillian claims he summitted Everest at 9:30 PM and 12PM. That makes for dozens of hours climbing in the dark and extreme cold. Furthermore, from what I have read, Jillian claims he went up via a new route the last 500 meters. Finding your way up the tallest peak in the world without oxygen, unassisted, at night seems patently absurd.

Seems pretty clear he can’t prove he made it to the summit. But, he says he did. So - what do you honestly think you can do about it? Something like 90% of people who know who this guy is are his fans, and they will believe believe him. Out of the other 10%, 8% just don’t care if he made it or not. Out of the 2% who care, 1.99% don’t believe he made it, but don’t really care. So of the tiny fraction of people in this world who even know who KJ is, only .01% of them care that he may not have made it to the top.
I’m not telling you to give up on this, I just wonder what you actually hope you can accomplish, and if you were to accomplish it, how many people do you think would care for more than the 3 minutes they read about it and then went on with their lives.

Well now that I've seen what Athletics Illustrated has revealed and what is in the Himalayan Database, my course of action will be to get in touch with the people at the Himalayan Database to see if they are logical and reasonable. I'm going to challenge their listing of Jornet's Everest claims and see how thorough they really are in their work.
Getting Jornet's dubious Everest claims striken from the Himalayan Database would take away any footing for Jornet and his publicists from making up those records claims.
Its a hobby for me to do detailed analysis and research when I see dubious things like this. Doesn't matter if people care, I see it as a challenge.

Some things are in motion now. We will need to exercise some patience and wait for the results, whatever they may be.
The bigger picture is why does it matter at all? The mountain has been scaled close to 2000 times since 1953, and almost 300 have died trying. There really is no official start line, no official time clock, etc. The whole record chasing on mountain climbs is stupidity and egotism at its worst. I'd really love to see the person that climbs it and doesn't tell a soul. Now people are just making up things. My relative was recently involved in a search for two climbers who went missing up in Alaska recently, both dead, leaving behind a two year old kid to grow up without a dad. Such a waste.

No updates I'm aware of at this time and no way for a regular North American to see the film (which I find ridiculous to have to pay Jornet to verify his claims).
I've just sent an email to Lymbus, Jornet's agent, asking for the original GoPro video footage Jornet says he has showing him at the Everest summit. Jornet promised to release this footage per his statement to Ian Corless in December 2017 and has not done so. It has been 5 months that we've been waiting for Jornet to do a very simple thing. Very suspicious. I'll keep this thread updated with what I get from Lymbus.
I have also sent out an email to a different party asking about the independent investigations into Jornet's claims and whether there is any update to share.
And something to think about: Jornet has been giving out multiple versions of conflicting events about what happened on the summit of Everest. Look at what Jornet listed as his summit time in his statement to Ian Corless:

This is 31 minutes greater than Jornet's multiple claims of having summited Everest in 26 hours flat per his own website. Jornet can't keep his story straight.
