Patti's a wild an crazy girl..back in that magical year of '78, she was the queen of the road. I had the pleasure of partying with her at her 1st(?) honolulu victory. When I drifted away in the next few years, I kept an eye on what she was up to, then she dissapeared as well.
Damn, Girl! a cracked tailbone!!! Ouch!. No wonder you weren't sitting at your computer!
Henry, I find I keep the injuries at bay these days if I don't exceed 60 miles a week. At more that that, I loose too much weight and things start to break down, so that seems to be my limit now.. at my best in my thirties, I was 80-100 miles and could stay healthy . You have to find the level of training that works for you. It sounds like you have good support with massage and have the luxury this summer of time to rest!!.
Skuj, Boston was my last marathon ('93) and the only one besides that '78 Honolulu I did ,badly trounced by Patti and others that took me 3 hours. The last 45 minutes of Boston was the most painful time I have ever spent on my feet. The quads were ok, but my toes were all blistered to the point of bleeding into my shoes. I'm so glad I did it though as It may truly have been my last race at that distance.
I still want to see Patti go back to Oahu and kick some next December.
