Why doesn’t he bang on about how many more watts he could get at sea level also? He says his mid-zone 2 HR is 275 watts. That’s pro peloton competitive. Similarly, Megan, per her Strava account, said that her zone 1 was 166 watts. One month out from surgery. 1. That would place her FTP at around 280 watts. 2. With her Zwift weight of 110 lb, she would be a world class professional cyclist. She would win almost everything. She also went out of her way to say “I’m so glad we have a trainer that actually works!” Meaning, they’ve seen their power is higher than when they had the more accurate Wahoo Kickr Bike and they prefer the numbers.
Funny how she went for an outdoor ride recently and forgot to hide her HR and power. Her average was something like 155 and her power was 106.
Why look at all? Because it’s hilarious how much they lie and cheat. The whole “Megan is the most dominant female athlete in the world” is stupid and unproven. As is saying “I’m so humble, I’m so humble. But it’ll probably be me who breaks my Leadville record.”
(I get those aren’t direct quotes.)
They are both good athletes. Just not the best. They’ll never be the best. Settle down a bit and enjoy your family and what success you have had and likely will continue to have.
Exactly. Pointing out their lies is no different than pointing out the lies of anyone else, athlete or non-athlete, who is/are public figures.
Unfortunately, running journalism is full of a bunch of wet blanket "journalists" who would never consider writing an article about this even if they are (and some of them definitely are) reading this thread and others and nodding along in agreement with what we've been pointing out.
So to those who ask, that's why we're pointing this out here. Because no one else is willing to point it out anywhere else.
You cannot accurately deduce FTP from Zone 1 power… and Strava power zones are usually wrong anyways.
She was the one who said it was her Zone 1. Not Strava. It was just on one of her latest activities. And yes, you can get an idea of FTP based on what someone claims is their Zone 1. She did AdZ and averaged maybe 200 watts. Said it was Tempo. Even if that were true (highly unlikely for her fitness considering pregnancy/post pregnancy), that would make the 166 much higher than zone 1.
I’m pointing out the manipulation tactics used to make it seem like they’re stronger and better than they are. It’s unnecessary and dumb. Actually, it’s pathetic. I would feel sorry for them if they weren’t so narcissistic and didn’t make money off of the scam. They seem to have zero humility or introspection. People who know them say this about them. It’s not just “online” haters.
Roches, you’re good enough. Stop trying to be something you’re not. Good coaches (which is what your job is supposed to be) care about their athletes, they care about appropriate training, and they are willing to show up as lesser athletes than others around them. The top coaches were mostly never the best themselves.
Hate to jump on the bandwagon but another apparently egregious example of misleading his audience/paying clients is when he tweeted this last week on a clip of him doing a treadmill workout (someone had asked if it was race pace):
"Oh gosh no, that is 4 min/mile pace! Just a 1-minute acceleration at the end of a mile-interval workout!"
However, since the youtube video was uploaded we can in fact see that a) far from running at '4 min pace' for an entire minute he managed 12-13 seconds tops. And no, it wasn't even a minute 'accelerating' towards this pace, as he clearly says "hit the mile" at the end of his rep and is frantically slowing the treadmill within 30 seconds, and b) the clip he uploaded claiming to be 4 min pace doesn't seem to correspond to the same moment from youtube (at all) so presumably is actually a clip from earlier in the session running at a more comfortable pace.
No, it's not the crime of the century but why lie? Oh what a tangled web we weave....

It’s funny. For people who have built their entire platform and ethos off the phrase “You are enough!!!!!” they seem to not believe it themselves. It would actually be quite sad if it weren’t so embarrassingly pathetic. Sometimes I feel bad for them, but then I remember how they actively lie and cheat in nearly everything they do — they will do anything for more attention, clout, kudos, and affirmations! We know (and they know too) that that’s really the only thing that matters to them, hence why they have no problem lying and cheating to get more of it. It’s like a drug to them. I’ve never met two more mentally unstable and narcissistic people in my life. And yes, met, as in ‘met in person.’

I mean it probably is from the same video, but he does the equivalent of hard stride (strides are 10-15 seconds) which pretty much any runner how can run a 4:40 mile can do.
But the way that he prefaces it by telling his audience that it's 4 minute pace and that he loves them so much and then exclaiming, "motherfvcker, let's go!" and then his wife complimenting him over and over again...like, wtf

Yeah, never a great idea to judge relationships from afar but if I had to make a sweeping generalisation I'd say it comes across as either weirdly performative or toxically codependent. My wife would find the idea of watching me on a treadmill and cheering me on whilst carrying a baby utterly ridiculous and so would I.

Okay, Megan.
You can accurately deduce power zones from a properly calibrated power meter which she seems to have on her outdoor bike and yet conveinently hides the power numbers (and on the rides where it's visible it's not even 20% away from the zwift power zones).
Quit lying and cheating. Even if it's in a virtual world that never makes it outside of Strava, it's the principle. And the way they (or you guys, because they're definitely on this thread or at least have people that are commenting for them) talk about doping as such apologists...doth protest too much?
i think a lot of people are looking at David the wrong way, it's not that he's narcissistic etc., i think rather he's incredibly insecure. i believe he's basically failed at football (look up his stats), failed at law (lasted just a few years before being washed out), and then stumbled across this niche area of the sport, where people like dean K and goggins can make a living. he's just crazy exited to have found some success and is going to milk it. milking it requires a lot of aggrandizing on social media.

As someone who knows David fairly well, I agree that he’s extremely insecure. But I also think he’s narcissistic — narcissism is driven by insecurity, as a way to cope with low self esteem.

The problem with delusional people is that they don't realize they are delusional. They call everyone who criticizes them "haterz" and hide behind their patreon circle jerk without even considering the fact that the "haterz" might actually have a point. Instead they just double down with all the cheating, lying and LOVE EVERYONE BS.
