Did J.R. have an off day? He ran 9:10 (4-5 seconds slow than his best) for 2nd at the TEN and was behind Pretre by a good 12 seconds (another sub 9 at this point in the season is insane).
Brandon Arrington outdoor 100/200 opener at a dual meet today, 10.35 and 20.65 legal
Jack Stadlman made his return outdoors (reportedly dealing with a combination of sickness and college visits), running 10.54 and 21.10 legal at a dual meet today.
Mattheo LaCasia, Woodside-CCS, came out for his first year of track this year. He ran 48.88 in his first ever 400 a few days ago. Keep an eye on him.
Freshman phenom Jasir Fontenot ran 14.00 over 110mh a week ago. He ran 13.65 wind-legal last year over 39-inch hurdles (yes, you read that correctly!)
Jasir is an all-timer. He was a student at a school I previously taught at and just a great kid. Incredible family. I sent Rich Gonzalez a message about him 2 years ago and he was not to overly impressed with the national records he was setting and last year he threw down some age group world records. I have never seen any hurdler like this for his age and we could be watching history. He won his heat last weekend at the Texas Relays in 13.47 in the 110s. One of my friends thinks he could get close to that 13.08 national record come June/July. I would bet he makes it close. On another note, his sister drops a 12.99 and dominated her heat. She could dance with that 12.84 national record this year.
Rich Gonzales is… something. That’s all I can really say. This is typical Rich activity lol.
Rich has contributed a great deal to California and US prep running but he's also a complete @sshole who has made many enemies on the way up. He's not very well liked in norcal, I can tell you that - though I doubt he even knows what norcal is.

I doubt Jasir gets the national record this year, but next year absolutely. I think he does get close to the state record of 13.22 though. I watched a few videos of his races - just pure, unbelievable talent. Cannot believe he is a freshman, he hurdles like someone 6 years his senior. Once he gets his turnover down it's over for everyone else.
Dang, Ogilvie not even entered for rising stars? Sure ik he’s barely coming back from running but I mean, I would imagine if he wasn’t injured he would’ve been a top contender to win the rising stars mile along with Aiden Antonio
Looks like C Stream and Bilodeau are entered in the rising stars heat- glad to see some young SJS talent showin up. Also, does anyone know what’s going on with Davis freshman star, Elias Thronson? He ran 4:17 and suddenly disappeared.

The Rich Gonzalez problems are so obvious that me living in Minnesota knows about them.
Watch out for Andrew Burr and Owen Anderson (McClatchy) during the post season, one of them could get that final third spot to go to state in the section in the 3200 (Burr has been dropping about 10 seconds per meet in the event. Going from barely having any training and running high 9:40s to now being 9:27 at Stanford invite- if he keeps this momentum going, he could be right back to where he was last track season or even better. Anderson looked extremely good in the Stanford 3200. Going from 9:26 last month to now 9:10 and 2nd place today- only 6 seconds behind Ben Bouie- they’re looking very good at this time of the season, I’d keep my eye on them).
Also very impressive Jesuit Stanford DMR performance considering the majority of their team has been plagued with all kinds of health issues. A first place finish in those conditions is insane
I remember someone in this thread said that Eli Fitchen Young running 4:05 is too much to ask for… well he just ran 4:05.15 at Stanford invite for 2nd. Evan Noonan won in 4:04.88. Stefanopolous in 4:06. Arrin Sagiraju in in 4:08.
And Javin Schmitt of Saint Mary’s College ran 4:09 (a 9 second improvement)- if anyone remembers the legendary miler from Saint Mary’s College, Mateo Malko Allen (someone who could’ve literally contend to be under that 4:10 mark), looks like someone two years later managed to accomplish what he wasn’t to able to. Good stuff
