I checked last year's times and they were actually much faster that year and that year they were 11th. Doesn't really mean much but all these rankings from tully, dyestat, runner central are glazing way too hard.
early season doesn't mean anything though. I think the potential is still there. But I also think that if two california teams explode onto the scene Jesuit won't be going to NXN. Considering all the talent and returners a lot of the teams have this year, it's more likely than not in my opinion.
Regarding california teams competing at woodbridge:
California has 5 teams with the potential of competing with the out of state teams. Jesuit, Beckman, Mira Costa, Mountain View and Vacaville.
The best bets are Mira Costa and Mountain View. They are more experienced and have performed well on this course in 2024.
I think Jesuit would get humbled here. But that mostly because their guys are coming back from injuries. That is just what sjsglazer was always saying on these threads.
Vacaville is too new and inexperienced. Their runners are young so they will be more dangerous at the end of the season. Same thing happened with Jesuit in 2024.
Herriman, Bridgeland, Southlake Carroll, Jesuit LA, CDA, Crater will most likely come out on top. Those programs have the best coaches and talent in the nation.
Southlake Carroll and Jesuit LA aren’t racing at Woodbridge this year
That's a bummer because Southlake Carroll and Jesuit LA are probably top 5 teams in the nation. Much better than any California team. Definitely out of state competition at woodbridge is going down.
But I think other regions are pretty upset about how they went 1-7 on our teams in woodbridge last year, and yet for some reason we still got an at-large? Rich Gonzalez is a hack for that and it showed at nxn. We shouldn't have gotten an at-large last year. Looking back, probably the best move would have been to give another at-large to the South, Midwest and Northeast instead of California.

Jesuit’s freshman and sophomore classes aren’t very strong. This team will probably disappear after class of 2027 graduates

Unless they get some really good transfers of course
Actually I do. Thanks. I personally consider that a different situation (which I am allowed to since we are all entitled to an opinion) than when kids transfer junior or senior year.

Ok going to a different school 9th and 10th and picking that like Elias did is different than 11th and 12th grade.
Yeah a lot of the Sacramento area best middle schoolers aren’t even going to Jesuit- it’s really going on a decline. I remember when most of the best ms would go to Jesuit but that pipeline ends at Alberts and Ogilvie. Most of them are going to West Campus.
^ *West Campus, CKM, Pleasant Grove, etc. Jesuit stock going down
Let’s not get ahead of ourselves. None of those programs stand a chance against Jesuit this year or any year in the future. Sorry guys stay in your lane and just try to do well in your division and not worry about taking down Jesuit.
Like there was an era during the late 2010s and early 2020s where the #1 (or top 3 runner) runner on a Sacramento area team would transfer to Jesuit so they can be a part of the best team in section (e.g., Spencer Pickren, Ajani Salcido, Brandon Moreno, Chase Gordon, Preston Connor, and I guess Drake Hoferer but he was from all the way in SoCal)

This has been mentioned in other threads, but Glendora was chosen because they beat autoqualifier Menlo at Clovis, and there were no “very good” choices other than AF, Taylorsville, and Austin Vandegrift. Ridgefield should have been chosen based on their NXR performance, but they weren’t chosen because they beat no autoqualifiers. Well, Carmel IN girls team was chosen although they beat no autoqualifiers before NXN. And since they ended up beating JSerra at NXN, Carmel turned out to be a right choice.
And Woodbridge seems early to look at. I think the committee probably focuses on October and November meets.

Yeah but Bilodeau may very well be the last for Jesuit. As I’ve said, the best middle schools in the area don’t even choose to go to Jesuit despite the incentive being pretty high. Unless they get some solid incoming freshman or transfers after the class of 26 leaves, it may very well be the end of the Jesuit reign.
