The commentary on that race was a total joke. 2 minute commercial and then another 60 seconds on field events.
Precisely. This was as awful as ever. How do you cut all that from a final? Can you imagine missing Lebron's block against Golden State? Or a HR in the 7th of a World Series? Missing Bor's fall is a broadcasting disgrace. Until this changes, no one outside of LR posters will take this sport seriously. Fugh.
Well they cut off the end of the Super Bowl and that seems to be doing ok
Anna Hall dates US tennis player Ben Shelton - who earned an Olympic spot, but turned it down, not wanting to upset his summer hard court season leading to the US Open by interrupting it with a tournament on clay. Lots of tennis players are not playing (though to be fair, plenty are and think it's a huge deal) - which underscores that no sport should be in the Olympics if the Olympics isn't the pinnacle achievement in that sport.
If I'm doing it right, I think Corrigan's points should be his 8:21 from the heats 1162 points and the final's 8:26 is worth 1137+place bonuses (that I don't know) So I doubt he gets into top 36 (1190 pts)

a lot of 10K guys who got lapped must regret not giving steeplechase a try in college. an 8:21 is ridiculously slow. Nico Young could've run that final in flip flops and no rest and probably finished in 8:15.
and Duncan Hamilton. what the hell? It was right there for the taking. a slow race plus Bor falls?
Give it 1-2 more years. All those 3:34 guys in the 1500 and 13:0x guys in the 5k are gonna realize this and the same thing is gonna happen to the SC like what is happening in the mens 400 right now.

I'm tired of this backhanded slander about break dancing
NBC coverage is for casual, intermittent fans. Everyone on Let's Run is annoyed by the coverage, yet watching. They know most of us are locked in. It shouldn't work that way, but it really does for the Olympics. That said, other sports (e.g., swimming) do better by their diehards.
No it's not, no casual fan could possibly have any idea what's happening in almost any of these events. They don't tell you how fast anyone is going, what lap the race is on, who's winning, they go to commercial and don't tell you what's happened during the break. They spend the first lap of a 1500 heat talking about a guy not in the race. The only people that can follow are the diehards. Now an NBC NFL production, that is for the casual fan. The screen tells you the score, what quarter it is, timeout situation, game and play clock, down and distance. There is a fake line on the screen to tell you where the first down is. There is a play and then a replay of the play with a guy drawing on the screen to tell you exactly what happened and why, etc.

Last K 2:33
It’s like saying anyone who’s run 27:50 would have won the 10k the other night.
