How will Ridgefield CT do at NXN? They took 3rd at NXR NE, and they return everyone except Hergenrother
Don’t know northeast teams went 6th, 19th and they were hailed as top 5 teams all season by rankings
ridgefield 9:11, 9:13, 9:19, 9:41, 9:44, 9:50. There are many returning teams with these numbers though hopefully they race somewhere outside of northeast all season maybe at midwest races
Ok but first combine New York and Northeast? Why should New York get its own region?
Because on the girls side, the New York and Northeast teams all placed high at NXN last year.

How about basing the number of autoqualifying teams off of NXN performances from the previous years?
For example, On the boys side: 3 autoqualifying teams from the Southwest, 1 autoqualifying team from New York On the girls side: 3 autoqualifying teams from the Southwest, 1 autoqualifying team from Heartland.
And still allow 2 at-large teams in all regions, even if that means it can send 5 boys teams from the Southwest.
But have at least 1 autoqualifying team on both sides in every region, so that each region is represented and because you never know what the future of the region will look like. Example: maybe a region is sending 1 autoqualifying team and this region has improved based on NXN performances, so start sending 2 autoqualifiers from that region again.

Take Cali from 2022 to 2023. Cali would get 3 auto spots due to Newbury, San Clemente, and Great Oak doing well in 22, but of those teams, only San Clemente reloaded well for 23, and no other Cali teams really stepped up.
I could see this scenario being more exaggerated where a region has 3 top 10 senior heavy teams that don't reload, causing a weak region to get 3 autos the next year.

Great Oak reloaded well in 2023 from 2022. In 2022 they had 5 seniors on varsity, and in 2023 they beat all CA teams at Woodbridge. At CIF, they beat Oakdale (one of the fastest teams to not make NXN). They just had an off race at NXN. They also lost their #1 (W Brown) due to injury, but based on his track season, he appears healthy now.
Personally I would like that idea, but I could see how it could go poorly.

Great Oak was 17th at nxn so calling oakdale as one of the fastest teams is out of the question and I am saying this as a California runner

Yes, CBA loses 4 varsity guys, but they are still the outright favorites to win the NE. CBA returns 5 sub-4:20 guys, and 4 more sub-4:30. They finished well ahead of Ridgefield. Ridgefield loses only Hergenrother, but he was an individual NXN qualifier so he was a big part of the team.

Westfield was close to CBA at NXR, and some pre-NXN predictions had them placing 9th, but they ended up 19th which is still better than their 2011 finish at NXN.
