You are getting the downvotes, Everydog, because this thread is completely rife with tribalism, groupthink, and mob rule somehow thinking that this is somehow going to assist the goal of making the bad people pay (when it ironically will have the opposite affect). There appears to be a strange inability to understand any semblance of nuance or critical thinking. It's just 100% the Johnsons and administration are the baddies (well, DUH!!!! SO OBVIOUSLY SO!) and everyone else was as pure as driven snow or had no ability whatsoever to defend the actions of the dark force. To me, it smacks of ageism and sexism to think that young female adults are so utterly powerless and incapable to think for themselves. I mean, seriously, if your child is this woefully unprepared and easy prey for wolves in sheep's clothing, hold off on sending them to college. Is that idea just too much for some here to handle? Apparently so! lol. And, here's a free bonus tip... have a sitdown with your soon-to-be collegiate running princess and tell them that if their coach makes advances, they should say "No" and then report it. Wringing your hands and hoping that something bad doesn't happen isn't the best strategy.
Just as a thought exercise, and I am just making this up, but it should be easy to envision (but I don't know).... imagine you're a guy on the cross team and you start dating this girl who is on the girls' team who, let's say, is one year ahead of you in school. Things are going well, and you get engaged, and then married! But, then you find out that it turns out that while you were engaged, she had been knockin' boots with your coach. Now, of course, you hate your coach - he's worse than scum. OF COURSE HE IS - DUH! But, I think it might also be likely that you end up splitting up because you think that maybe... just maybe... your wife should've known better than to 2-time you even though the coach is just so dang charismatic and irresistible to the women. Would it be wrong of you to think that perhaps... some crazy spitballing here... she, too, was in the wrong? Or, can there only be one wrong person doing immoral things (rolls eyes)? If your coach raped her, you'd absolutely be out for blood at that time, correct? But, if it was an affair, you'd dump her and move on.
Many people on this thread are acting like tools if they can't understand these basic concepts. Blinded homer white knighters. Tribalism. Groupthink. Cavemen.
This might not be simply Nassar-esque. It might be a mash-up of Nassar meets Amber Heard and Johnny Depp.
As an aside, espn put out an article. It's already watered-down. What a disappointment.
