Tom “Tinman” Schwartz and Drew Hunter/Tinman Elite have parted ways

None of this happens if someone at adidas didn’t think giving Drew Hunter a big, long-duration contract was a good idea. Epic miscalculation.

When a common ‘defense post’ involves “...hIs HoUSe iS blah blah blah...”, you know the incentives aren’t where they need to be.

There were some talk about online last winter and I thought they were joking. So maybe this does come down to socio-political/generational differences, as well as Drew just needing some new direction. That said, hell has frozen over but I actually more or less agreed with most of rojo's take a few pages back.

TME and drew are completely wrong to have done it in the way that's been talked about here.

That being said, I also think Tom made a ton of mistakes here and put too much trust in a young group that's clearly lost at the wheel.

I signed up for coaching from Tinman a few years ago and felt completely ripped off by it. Cookie cutter plan that had very very little variance. Was supposed to be for a half marathon and my longest LRs were only 1:20. No long workouts, same small sh*t as everyone else. It didn't make sense to me. I completed the training and felt the absolute weakest and slowest I've ever felt and decided not to even run the half. All my races during the program were complete flops.

Just wanted to remind folks that it’s now Day #4 since LetsRun put out the article on this news and - per both parties cited in the article - Day # __ since the TME squad decided to inform Tom they were parting ways...

Yet, the TME website still lists him as coach, still uses phrases they attribute to him all over it, and no statement of any kind to clarify beyond that of Coach Hunters has been released.

Agree. You could probably take what you said about Klecker and apply it to Jake Riley, as well. Sure, Riley is on SM and he's using it for sponsorship promotion and little more. He's probably more similar to old school guys Mark Coogan and Alan Culpepper than he is to today's Boulder bros. He's not going on some "#performanceoversocialmedia" warpath like some joker, either. There's another prominent active local athlete who is big into social media who may have a faster PR than Riley, Coogan and Culpepper, and that's the sole apparent accomplishment he can claim over them. Coogan or Culpepper wouldn't go on endlessly Tweeting about deserving sponsorship or make a sad, pissant podcast. Culpepper and Coogan were busy enough with their family on top of getting ready to perform when it counted to get on a U.S. team. They didn't need to get over themselves to get out of their own way, they didn't have time for daily navel-gazing as they arrived with a constant focus on what mattered most and what made the biggest difference in terms of where they wanted to go.

Tinman is obviously to blame. It's clear that they all hate him. He was unable to maintain their trust.

Sure, the group immature. But you can't use that as an excuse when you are also coaching middle school athletes on the side. If you can't connect with them then you should get out of coaching.

The implication is that if Riley isn't caught up in those kinds of things then Culpepper and Coogan wouldn't have been if they'd existed in their day, either.

This is entirely TMEs fault for letting the story get out of hand. They've had PLENTY of opportunity to correct the narrative, but are continuing to act as if nothing happened. No slander here.

I understand, but it’s a silly point. Some people have a personality where they want to post about their life and be out there, others are more introverted. One isn’t better than the other.

You can’t take one from either side and use them as an example, since there are tons of people who contradict your point. To name two, Craig Engels and Centro. Willis (albeit not in an obnoxious way) is also a public guy who is very successful.

There are probably tons of introverted and/or private runners who aren’t getting good results, but i can’t name them because they have no social media and they aren’t getting results so it’s the double whammy of no presence.

I think you are referring to defamation laws, which could be true but you have to show actual loss in sales or worth. Can’t just sue cause your feelings are hurt.

None of what she said qualifies as slander. Try again. Elon Musk wasn't even booked for calling a dude a pedo on twitter; that's infinitely worse than whatever "Tammy" said.

My point still stands. TME are at fault for these wild speculations by continuing to act as unprofessionally as possible.
