So 11 degrees C to 18 with no wind and low humidity and dew point is a hot race? Seems like pretty damn good conditions, not perfect but nice race weather.
Strikes me as the sort of thing someone would say who either hasn’t been running long or doesn’t run at all.
Early in Felton's youtube career, I commented on his strava as to why he was constantly getting injured. (LOTS of back to back workouts/races etc...). He was overzealous, and excited about getting fast. I tried to gently explain....but was flashmobbed.
He's gotten more knowledgeable, but the training lacks behind his focus on youtubing.

Those are the exact conditions for anyone finishing under 3hrs. I wouldn't trade low humidity 18 degrees for a windy humid day. Sure perfect conditions would be saving a minute or 2 at the sub 2:30 but the weather is hardly difficult and perfect conditions at London would be rare.

The problem is when you train in 5-10 degrees and then on race day you get 18 degrees with no cloud cover it’s quite a significant difference which you’re not adapted too. Of course, this could be mitigated by adjusting expectations but who would be smart enough to do that.
Yes, good time for a club runner and quicker than most on these boards will even dream of. I think alot of people feel aggrieved as she openly voiced being in the elite field for the vibes last year: she was partying abroad in the weeks beforehand and definitely came in out of shape (see also her claim in a bbc article today that she's dropped into the mass event to "...embrace the atmosphere, culture and community" - proper yuck). I'd argue that for women running over 2.20, being in the mass start is probably easier because you're in large pacing groups with men as opposed to having to solo it. Again, good time for a club runner, but I think she needs to scrap any mention of being elite.

It has been pretty much the same mild weather with similar temps all month in April in London so training would have easily hit those temps for locals.
Pretty sure when this has happened in the past they don’t count the women in the mass start in the top Brit results. Phily will still count as 3rd. It’s a womens only elite start. Lucy’s performance whilst very good, is raced under different circumstances. Would have had a pack of men aiming for 2:30 that she would’ve ran with the whole way. Very different to Phily, and I think, as a lot of people on here suggested, she would’ve done better with male pacemakers.
I wonder if Philly overcooked it a touch in training and came in a bit flat. 2:30 isn't wildy off next to her PB taking conditions into account (heat + no pacer), but likely pretty disappointing given the build. Seemed like her biggest block to date with a big focus on running fatigued plus a lot of expectation for this particular race, but she seemed to be off the pace from the beginning and spiral from there vs. going out too hard and blowing up spectacularly- to me that rings more like a 'didn't have the legs on the day' scenario. Probably makes having to solo the entire thing a lot worse- it's a little easier when you're feeling solid and on track for a good result, at least.
Do people like Ben is running here or do we generally agreee he’s insufferable lmao? I cant stand the guy. He seems so boring and lame and likes he’s trying to be cool and funny in his videos but it comes off so fake. Idk why but I enjoy Cole’s videos and find him genuine and enjoyable but Ben Felton just gives me a conceited douchebag vibe lol. He comes off like he would be rude in real life or “fake nice” to someone but really he just wants the attention and fandom for people to back his performances.
Am I just a cynic or do others see this the same way.
