It matters for a couple of reasons:

One, if you hadn’t noticed, the country is having a reckoning right now about sexual misconduct.

We have a current Justice who was confirmed while going through sexual harassment allegations.

A former president that was impeached for lying about sexual misconduct in the White House.

The current president who we have audio and bush money about sexual misconduct.

The whole Hollywood situation of sexual misconduct.

If this is true -

Confirming a lifetime appointment to the highest court in the land should demand the highest ethics and morals and judgement.

High school screw ups can get plenty of other jobs.

Two, he categorically denies any of this happened.

So, if he is boldly lying about this, it is unbecoming of being a Supreme Court Justice for the next 30 or so years.

The above matters if it is true.

And I think it probably is true.

That said, we need to be pretty sure that it true before tossing him out.

They should take their time and review this before having a confirmation vote.

He lied about the incident. He should have been truthful and said he was young and made a mistake. Several mistakes actually: attempted rape and underage drunkenness. Instead he chose to lie that it ever happened—lied about just last week. Based in lying about it makes him unqualified for a SCOTUS seat. There are other SCOTUS candidates who not have a need to lie about such a situation because they have never put themselves into such a situation.

Clarence Thomas had bigger issues and he got through just fine.

Hell, Bill Clinton had bigger issues and he was elected president just fine.

This was HS. Probably a party. Probably both drunk. He attempted to have sex with her. Was he wrong? Yes. 100%. At 17 or 18 or however old he was he was a sh!tbag. Deplorable human being.

Of course he’s going to lie about it. We all would. To say otherwise in the face of zero evidence is not being truthful.

If I went through the 20yr internet browsing and communication history of everyone up in arms over this I know for a fact I would find illegal activity, probably involving minors when you all were 18+.

Democrats need to stop. They are pissy that they, and Obama, got railroaded over a SCOTUS pick. They had no cajones. Kavanaugh is a Republican appointee taking over for another Republican appointee. So just stop.

This is nothing more than political theatre leading into the 2018 midterms to cast doubt on the Republican brand.

To say anything else is being dishonest.

There are plenty of other SCOTUS candidates available who have conservative views without the baggage Kavanugh has. Attempted rape. Underage drinking. Gambling issues. Hiding how he got out of over a million in debt on a judge's salary. Believe it or not, other candidates exist without any one of those issues, let alone all of them.

Now the vote will have to be pushed out until after the mid terms which will result in them winning the House and likely the Senate.

Then we nominate our own candidate.

Clearly I believe sexual assault/misconduct is wrong but the timing of this is skeptical at best. This is liberals last push to delay as long as they can a vote on Thursday. If Kavanaugh firmly denies this then I would reluctantly move forward since the statutes of limitations are well passed.

Also as far as I know this is the only woman who has said this while plenty of women that knew him are coming to his defense. I am not seeing a pattern.

Sounds like Trump improperly funding increased ICE deportation and detention costs by improperly taking Congressionally approved budget from other agencies.
