RY's tracker crossed the Illinois-Indiana state line just now (Wed AM) at about 12:59 AM CDT, 1:59 AM EDT. This part of Indiana is in the eastern time zone. My Google Maps tracking shows him at 22.2 miles since starting this afternoon from N Friendship Rd, sometime after 6 PM CDT.

Actually they seem to have pulled off and parked right at the state line.

Why can't Robbie show us just one 10 mile run at 6:00 min. pace on the easy flat roads. He was doing more than that everyday at high altitude out west.

15 minute miles does not look like Super Running Powers for a World Champion like Robbie.

Fred. This situation with Robbie and his stories is starting to spiral out of control. Runners World is now talking to Robbie. What fun!!!

I am sure that Robbie is over the moon that he is becoming even more famous than he already thought he was (which is actually hard for me to imagine as even being possible).

I am also not sure if Robbie has been hanging around with the proper kind of people, based on their prior history.

Of course there is also…the prior history problems with Robbie Young.

I was at ATY when Joe ran his 329. Eoin Keith from Ireland ran 300 at the same event. It was bad-assedness of the highest order.

I've got some money to put down on Joe. Or Eoin. Or Ed Ettinghausen. Or Yolanda Holder. Or Martina Hausmann. Or John Geesler. Or David Johnston. Or any of those psychos who do the 3100 mile race in Queens every summer. Or dozens of other very experienced multiday runners who have never had to make up preposterous claims. They just get it done.

Once those people are all done tenderizing RY, I've got some money to put down on myself in any timed run up to six days long.

The onus is on the claimant for the record, it isn't on us to disprove it. It needs live data on Strava.

It requires an independent witness for the entire duration. He didn't even notify his support team for 2.5h after he started. There is no independent witness of the entire attempt therefore its invalid.

Maybe he can come back next year and do it properly. I am sure he has learned a lot this attempt about how NOT to do a record attempt. I tried to help him with a courteous helpful FB message and got no reply.

The problem is that a retarded guy has registered areaipersson and just types a capital i that looks like an l. This is an old trick here at lrc and is often employed for fun. However, some posters don't have any sense of when to apply such jokes. Andy Persson should type his handle with capital letters (at least the l) so that everyone can see who he is. Example: areaLpersson

From my perspective I see Asher posting under an unregistered name - same as me before you say anything. This in itself is enough to cause doubt as to his credibility.

he records some dodgy footage to suit himself, say he ran to meet the van but didn't record any of that approach or even of him attempting to run to the van. If he is such a super detective why not get more footage to back up his claim of even attempting to join this challenge.

then he realises that RY team have got the footage so he quickly releases his before them to attempt to gain some credibility not realising that RY team probably have their request for footage recorded well before he did.

Asher has proven nothing apart from stirring up a hornets nest of speculation and hatred.

I'm sure if anyone of the LR people who have talked the big talk about following this could also go and film a little bit of footage where RY isn't actually in shot. This has no bearing at all and is not true evidence of any kind.

Personal context on the initial marathon story from a total idiot here. I ran my first marathon on similar prep to Mr Young - a little bit of running, like his parkruns, no long runs. (Unlike RY, I got a last minute free place from a friend in a proper certified race.) I went much faster than RY, and then a week later ran another proper marathon in the same time to within a minute.

A week with two marathons in 2:45 is very different to 30 hours with three marathon distance runs, but I don't think it's necessarily a physical impossibility for someone who had been running a bit and is capable of much faster than 3 hours is he had the balls to actually train properly.

(On the other hand I've no idea if my legs would've let me continue to jog 26.2 miles every day between and after the two races, it was years ago and I can't remember how I felt. But I worked 60 hours on my feet between the two races and am not a great runner, haven't broken 31.)

Of course, I'm still in total agreement that this foundational myth for the Marathon Man is very unlikely and almost certainly exaggerated.

Also find him totally preposterous and attention seeking in general of course.

I doubt RY could repeat his three marathon feat today (fresh of course). He's got the endurance but hasn't got the wheels. For him a 3:19 marathon is fast.

Thanks for clearing that up. I think I'm probably done here now though. Have joined ultralist and will post thoughts there. While I appreciate there are people on here wanting to have a grownup conversation, there seem to be far too many kids who are relishing being able to post without being identifiable and this identity theft stuff is doing my head in. The way it's set up over there means there seems to be more considered discussion. And at the end of the day they actually got the guys out there to monitor, rather than ranting non stop about how we'll go out and catch this cheat but never getting out from behind the keyboard.
