There is no difference. A republic is a form of democracy.
They are very different.
...any of those scandals should have been enough to end Trump's reign, but instead he started a cult. We've all lost, even the cult members, they're just too dumb to realize it.
I don't think Bill Barr will be back on Fox News anytime soon. Fox News anchors aren't happy here. He backed the truck up and ran it over former guy, then backed it up and ran over him a second time for good measure.
The bubble-headed bleach blonde was NOT getting the answers she wanted to her loaded questions. Poor vetting by the prep staff. Or maybe Barr went rogue? Pretty funny, either way. And NO, he will not be invited back on Fox to discuss classified document issues at country clubs.
A guest stunned hosts on the radical right Newsmax network yesterday when he stated that trump will more than likely be indicted, shining a rare moment of re...
"The two great points of difference between a democracy and a republic, are: first, the delegation of the government, in the latter, to a small number of citizens elected by the rest; secondly, the greater the number of citizens, and greater sphere of country, over which the latter may be extended.” In short, for Madison, democracy meant direct democracy, and republic meant representative government."

Why doesn’t this apply in the Republic of Ireland?
Have we ever heard why Trump had a bunch of top secret materials at his house in Florida? Or, okay, let’s say he declassified them. Why did he have a bunch of stuff in his house that was so sensitive that it was designated top secret?

Now name a single country that can be considered a democracy using this definition. Literally no one means direct democracy when they call a country a democracy.

All democracies are forms of representative government. That is what parliaments are. No democratic country is governed today directly by its citizens. But there is much more to it than representation and elections. There is the rule of law and the independence of the branches of government and, crucially, the protection of individual rights. All this is now in jeopardy in the US. Being a republic does not justify it and will not save it.
