I don't claim to have timed the market. I did have my financial planner move me in December from about 55% in stocks to about 40 percent. I'm 60 and hope to live through a few more economic cycles.

I think i see where you are headed with this- meaning that the owa caucases will point to a bernie win, which the market will interpret as the end of the world as we know it/massive downside ahead.
I don't think so. I think most know that iowa is supposed to be way more left leaning than the rest of the country. Last i heard, bernie is a favorite there by a few percent, but Biden is elsewhere in the country. Honestly, i think the big guns know and expect this.
But we shall see.

MY event was leaving. Even though I didn’t want to be burdened with the markets, there is just so much going on right now that it makes sense to follow it a bit.
I think there is a chance that Bernie takes Iowa. Iowa is all farmers, and farmers are all welfare queens, even though he gives some older people the heebie-jeebies remembering the 60’s.
I do not believe atm that he can win overall, because moneyed DNC interests won’t let him. Ditto Warren. Those would both require a real popular uprising to win, not just the self-interested party politics the US still currently enjoys.
And Presidents ha ve IMO been getting stupider, starting with the egomaniacal blunderer Bubba. Then there was the soft-in-the-head Bush puppet. How to get stupider than him? The terrified of being exposed pothead Obama. I thought that was the bottom of the barrel, but...Drumpf is possibly lower. At least Obama started out with some humility, and knew he was dense while being manipulated.
Look at the landscape: who is individually stupider than Drumpf? A few are down there—possibly Warren, certainly not Bernie—but mos def that borderline schizo mild Alzheimer’s Biden. He is the stupidest of the current crop. Good thing for him that Maxine Waters isn’t running?.
The US Presidency has become a sad joke. At least Ukraine elected an actual comedian. Biden is status quo swamp all the way, he would be a giant step backward.
And he will therefore win at least the Dem side, possibly the whole thing, although that is too early to tell. 1-on-1 debates between him and Trump would be epic nonsense and inanity.
But first, we must revisit the now-ritualistic ascendancy and subsequent purchased sacrifice of Bernie.

Over the next several months we have loose plans to be in various places around Europe, including France, Germany, Sweden, Norway, and some subset of Estonia/Finland/Latvia/Lithuania, which I think covers the business trips I know of today, plus a probable pleasure trip to Iceland (never been...), and at least three trips back across the pond before summer.
