With BYU switching to the Big 12 conference last year, it would be more of a lateral career move (than a move up) to another Big 12 school at CU this coming year. She may be in a better situation all-around by staying at BYU for now.
For what it’s worth, this is what I have heard. Admittedly, this is second hand. The Colorado department has not spoken to anyone directly yet. The process won’t begin until the date listed in the hiring posting. There is no expectation on increasing the salary range. They believe it is a competitive salary, in concert with what Wetmore earned, with the bonus of living in Boulder County. Through secondary sources they have back channeled inquired to 2 candidates either of which the administration believes they can afford. There is not much interest in having separate distance coaches for each gender and head coaching experience is desired. As for the initial candidates other than an internal interview, I don’t have names but was given broad descriptions. One is from the ACC with a respectable program on both sexes with an aggressive recruiting model. The recruiting aspect is highlighted in the hiring posting. The other one is from the “western states” who has coached nationally ranked team with experience coaching at altitude.

If any of these criteria are true, it reads like Syracuse checks many their desired boxes. Both genders, Head Coach, recruiting success and salary price range, I assume.

Not that I don't think Fox would be a very good fit, but many ADs try to fill non-FB/BK positions with coaches young enough that they might be there for a very long time. Again, not that Fox can't, just that someone <50 might be more what the AD is looking for.

Not sure how it works in track but a few friends of mine have been asst college lacrosse coaches and camps are additional sources of income for coaches.
Sometimes the salary is listed as $50,000 but after camps it's much more.
Don't know if it's unique to lacrosse but I'm sure football and basketball also bring in nice money for camps
Requiring XC coaches to do summer xc camps should be against the law. XC coaches are in season year round - indoor, outdoor, xc - and then you want them to distance camp in the summer as well just to get by?
When people used to ask me about college coaching, I used to say, "It's amazing if you don't mind working 35-40 weekends a year for 35-40k a year." Obviously this pays more but a lacrosse coach is in season for 3-4 months, not 9 like track/xc.
