Just think if the course had been an accurate 8K. I thought the course ran fast, but I will never understand why the MIAC allows a course that's not accurately measured.
The MIAC office doesn’t care. They won’t even spring for medals or a stage for awards. Do you think care that Power thinks 8K is five miles?
And to settle the Edina issue I propose a race between the Oles and Hornets. Winner gets a salary reduction and to drive to Northfield every day. Although if the coach gets free tuition for kids that might be worth his salary reduction.
Let's put off the Olaf-Edina dual until after NXR & Regionals. Until then, what are our picks for Regionals? I see a scenario where we can qualify five or six teams if Olaf places fifth, which is a realistic scenario. MSOE could really screw things up if they finish 4th or better because their only big win is beating Stevens Point at Carleton. Running at La Crosse didn't help anyone and they have no out of region comparison.
After looking at the WIAC results, if I'm Olaf, I'm hoping tapering for MIAC's doesn't come back to bite me in the azz. I'm not sure they can be top four even though they dusted a down MIAC conference meet.
1. La Crosse
2. Whitewater
3. Eau Claire
4. Stevens Point
5. St. Olaf
6. MSOE
7. Platteville
8. Stout
9. Carthage
10. St. John's
If 5 teams go, qualifiers are likely Bati, Schneider (UWP), Curulewski (Carthage), Shaw (MSOE), Nichols (Carleton), Boone (CSS), and either Roy, Smith (GAC), a Macalester guy or a Stout guy.
how has nobody discussed the massive victory over the carls in the women’s race? not even preisser and mcmanus could secure a 1-2 finish like they did a month ago at the running of the cows

It was a super impressive Ole performance coupled with a devastatingly underwhelming Carl performance. Other than Preisser obviously it seemed like nobody in the Carls line up performed. Hopefully they can figure it out for regions on there home course or this is going to be a crazy national champions to potentially not appearing at nationals trajectory.
Curious about the Rookie of the Year. Is it solely based on the conference performance? Who selects it?
And for Coach of the Year do coaches ever make cases for themselves? I see very real scenarios to reward the great job Gustavus has done for the women. And St. John’s finishing second for the first time in a long time should get recognition. The Oles have so many advantages already. I hate to reward a coach for stepping into someone else’s program and having success without doing the work.
Rookie of the Year is how you race at the MIAC Championship. Not sure how other sports do it, but it seems they take the whole year into account.
It’s really not cool to post that sort of thing even joking. Making fun of Power due to his behavior and not being a runner is much different that someone’s health.
The Oles didn't really improve. Carleton had injuries and regressed. The Johnnies improved their score and spread. Gustavus made monumental improvements as individuals and certainly as a team. They may have a couple national qualifiers.
Love how not that Power ruined the Karhu and the Oles are trying to make the AECMR a thing that Macalester refuses to acknowledge it and simply calls it the Cannon River Closer on all their social media and schedule page. What a dumb idea for a race name. Another Power fail.
maybe it would still be called karhu if the ricks could field a jv roster.
Lol at Olaf running all-conference runners on their JV meet just so Power can post about perfect scores on social media.
Was the race an actual 5K? Or is that course short too?

or maybe its because olaf is deep enough to have jv runners that are all conference runners?

And now the genius has his team doing a 3200m on the track. That will surely benefit the at the Regional. In a 8K race.

I’m continually disappointed that non of the St. Olaf doom/gloom comes to fruition. It’d be nice to see some other teams be competitive with Olaf in cross. St. John’s seems like they have a young team that could compete with Olaf in 2 years, but it always feel like there is a team two years away and they never get closer.
This thread is cancerous
Someone talk about the return of chunks, calvin emoting on the line or how f*cking sick the Saint Mary’s guys look in their pit vipers and arm sleeves right before running 28 flat
