Um, okay you don't want to give me credit for a 2:16:52 marathon PR. Whatever. My 1:04:32 half is a better performance anyway. For the record I also have been top 20 at Boston and Chicago.
But my whole point of bringing up relative marathon PRs, as well as times at Sierre-Zinal and MT. WA etc is to compare them as a relative reference to a mountain race like Pikes (and because guys like Matt, Joe Gray, Max King, Kilian, Remi and myself have raced there extensively over the years).
It's not like Matt was some sub 2:09 marathoner who ran 55-min at Mt. WA and won the World Mountain Running Champs (or Sierre-Zinal 6 + times like Mejia and Kilian have). Heck even Remi has run 2:36 or so at SZ.
Anyway, back to Seth: I also think he has the talent to run sub 2:18 but just hasn't put it together yet. His 2:23 PR (or is it 2:22) is kinda close though. And he has won Pikes twice in 3:37-3:38 kind of times. His speciality is certainly uphills at high altitude (much like Matt). But Seth, myself, Adam Peterman, Max King, Jonathon Aziz, Joe Gray, Kilian and Remi etc. aren't getting ever close to 3:16 at Pikes....nobody is anymore!
You still have to be an idot to think that that 3:16 doesn't stick out like crazy.....and that is relative to EVERYTHING that Matt has ever done.
And I thought I was OCD...sheesh!!
Do you seriously believe you're in the same league as Kilian or Joe Gray?
He probably does but he was only 43rd in the OT Marathon way back when, according to his self written Wikipedia page. I used to think better of him but now he has slipped in the rankings below the mighty Eggman who truly delivered on that Pikes Peak weekend.

I've been critical of eggman's training and antics in the past, and enjoyed some of the good-natured trolling, but the one thing I have massive respect for is that he leaves others alone. He focuses on himself, his family and flock of followers (much like Jesus Christ, the only son of God) and generally doesn't criticize others online or in his videos. I think deep down he is a good guy who got caught off guard unexpectedly when his channel took off and made errors along the way. I think he can reboot and do it right, however, if he really wanted to.
Someone on here asked why Sage would bring up Carpenter's record again with zero additional insight. Well, the obvious answer is it was a diversionary tactic when the SJD praise train was going in full force several pages back. Sage can't let that happen - he has mocked SJD on here and in his videos, and now SJD is rising (much like Jesus Christ rose from the dead after he was crucified) while no one is talking about Sage anymore. He can't handle the success of others, let alone guys he used to humiliate.
SJD can still put up some monster results in his late 30s and well into his 40s. I'm rooting for him.
Seth Demoor is BACK baby.

It's really great to see that focusing on what really mattered (Family and running) made a huge difference for Seth. I am genuine happy for his success.
SJD is not back. His followers would go right back to not watching his videos. He has gained no subscribers in the last year and a half. Unless it’s a complete reinvent he’s not going to not do well. Also, how is he a good person? There’s a whole list of reasons why he is bad. I don’t care about Sage but did Sage host a virtual race and say a percentage would go to charity then pocket the entire thing for his mcmansion? Seth is also extremely rude in the comments. I could keep going on and on.
Amazing what one race and one message board thread can do to runners' Q ratings, at least among a dozen letsrun users.
I'm happy to see how SJD did at pikes peak. The only real problem I had with his video series is whenever it felt unauthentic (which was a lot more common towards the end). Otherwise he seems like a good guy, despite being a bit goofy.
Both SJD and Sage seem to make genuine attempts at making the sport better for others, which should be commended. When trying to promote the sport with limited structural support like other sports have, it feels like its a fine line between promoting the sport successfully and coming across as arrogant/self-promotional. With the limited resources in the sport, I wouldn't expect those trying to promote the sport to live just on the right side of that fine line all the time. Some seem to though, like Nick Symmonds. It takes a rare special skill though.

Has anyone seen what goes on in his paid Discord chat? Based on how snarky he gets in video comments and how aggressive his flock are in defense of him, pretty sure there is a lot of criticizing going on. He just doesn't do it here. He has framed comments here as bullying and makes a lot of passive aggressive response. So not quite Jesus.
Avocados Number is 100% not Matt Carpenter. He is a guy that ran in the 80's and 90's and still is out training everyday in Colorado Springs.
I have not seen Matt Carpenter much these days even though it was stated in this thread he still runs every day.
This turned into quite a mud slinging thread and as adults its disappointing to see two grown men living in the same damn state throw insults at each other.
It literally took me less than 30 seconds to identify Avocado's Number by name, after I got curious enough to look. Impressive person, and not Matt Carpenter.
I just did the same since you mentioned it, although father time seems to be catching up on me since it took about 2 minutes. And also, I swear I did the same a couple years back on that edition of "Sage derails the annual PP discussion with not well veiled 'questions' about the CR." Sigh. Regardless, he's definitely not Matt, and definitely is of solid character.
Hey y’all Im Seth the loveable, quirky family guy! Look how much I love and care for my family as I load them into a taillight-less car then drive said car while looking and talking into the camera and also hold a tray of drinks!

Now he puts them in a 20 year old chevy that gets 10mpg all well claiming to live the simple life and loving nature.

Host Dylan Bowman calls Seth a beast and is familiar with Seth. One of the female panelists apparently mixes Seth up with his brother Joseph, who came in 24th in the ascent.
Should we tho? He only ran 2 races and pretty much any race record he had was broken by the actual top guys. He made no National teams, won zero races and no results even outside of trail. next plz
I thought it was interesting how defiant Seth was in his "siesta is over" video. He goes right back to the coffee making shot and mugging for the camera. These tired scenes have been widely panned and yet he's determined to keep making videos as he always has. I guess his fans love it though based on the comments. He's definitely a strange character.
Sage spends so much time in here implying that Matt Carpenter is a cheat or doper based on Matt having a great race. But Sage recently twisted himself in knots to say that what Allie Ostrander did is different from all the other known dopers he consistently attacks and he's fine with her violation because it was only a masking agent.
What a weird dude.
Uhh i think you are hearing crickets with that argument.
