If electric cars are really better, why do you need to ban gasoline cars?

I'm not really clear though how it addresses, never mind answers, the thread topic. As a reminder, the topic has to do why it might be necessary to regulate the types of newly manufactured cars that can be sold after a particular date rather than relying on the "free market" to produce the same outcome.

I'd kind of expect the answer might involve some discussion of commons problems and externalized costs before the mike drop.

Any way you look at it, a gas powered car is inferior to an EV. The only advantage a gas car has is that it saves you a little time on really long road trips. For everything else you want a car to do, the EV does it better than the gas car.

Why would that end the thread? It has nothing to do with the ban on new sales of gas cars. All it means is that to decrease emissions you should drive your old gas car as long as possible before you switch to an EV. That fact was already covered several pages ago.

I bought the stock because I am a savvy investor. But I ain't buying a Tesla to drive.

I want a reliable vehicle. if i drive 45 miles to beach I want to be confident it will not break down during that drive. If I considered reliability I would only consider one of the top 5. Maybe top 10. Tesla is bottom 2 out of 28. Consumer Reports says Teslas are junk cars. I don't buy junk cars. Ergo, I am not buying a Tesla. I love my dependable cars. You are okay with junk cars.

Didn’t you just argue with ice owners over how having to stop more frequently and more often on road trips was actually not a big deal and a good thing? You are one strange dude.

It's not a big deal. That's why I told you to take your Mach-e on a road trip. It's not as good on road trips as a Tesla, but it will do fine.

What I think of the actual product means nothing to me as a savvy investory. If I anticipate the price of Tesla going up then I will buy that stock. Also, most of my Tesla ownership is in index funds - not in Tesla stock (though I do own Tesla).
