Guys, I would really like to nail down this section as we have a lot of information about it, but I've run into some issues.
I just spent a ton of time trying to integrate the TomTom GPS screenshots into this timeline. There are 2 segments that appear to overlap with this timeline. I am assuming that the TomTom timestamps are in local time (CST) because most GPS watches auto-sync to the local time-zone. Can anyone confirm this?
The issue I'm having is that there appears to be a gap in the RV GPS check-ins just prior to this time period - there are no check ins between June 4, 15:53:43 CST and June 4, 22:02:58 CST, which is located in the same spot. The RV appears to have stopped for a sleep break at June 4, 15:17:51, where a few more check in points keep it stationary before this gap in coverage. However, there are apparently TomTom GPS files covering 14.73 miles at an average pace of 22:50 min / mile over this same time window (June 4 15:31 to June 4, 21:11).
What am I missing? I was trying to correlate the next 2 TomTom GPS files after this batch to this timeline when I noticed this. Are the timestamps on the TomTom files just totally off? We may need to correlate RV sleep breaks to gaps in TomTom file coverage to address this.
Also, can anyone confirm that the TomTom interface shows full duration of the track and not "moving duration", meaning that we can reliably calculate the end time of the track by adding the duration to the start time? Some GPS watches will let you pause the track and will not count the paused time as part of the "duration" in certain parts of a viewing interface.

They have a proprietary file format called ttbin and you can't upload files manually to the site only off your device which you can't write to. There is a ttbin reader/converter on the net but that wouldn't gain you anything you couldn't do by download and editing off TomTom.

There is an automatic synch (I don't use that option myself) but the problem with that is how do you know it was transferred that way and not manually?

Segments, flybys, athlete summary data. The biggest plus I think is that once we have a Strava athlete to look at you would be able to go to his training calendar and click on any week and look at all the sessions. From what I can see with the TomTom sharing option each share is discrete and would have to be looked at individually via its own link. If you look at that session link above you will see that you can't click on 'Joe' the athlete and see his other sessions.
I hope I am the first to congratulate you on o ly taking 160 some pages to get to the point we were all at on page 28. Maybe you should fly in a brain...

The situation as I see it is this:
A guy decided to give the Transcon record a go and set off a few weeks ago. Some video was produced showing no runner by the RV and it all blew up, the immediate assumption being that he had gone all that way to sit in an RV and pretend he was doing it and in the meantime pull off the greatest endurance con in history (aside form Yiannis's first Spartathlon, oh no wait..) Since then everything has been scrutinised in depth with various oddities arising.
- Rob won't release his gps data - well as far as I know he hasn't claimed to have beaten the record yet, so not sure why that is a problem.
- But if he releases it at the end it might have been doctored - google is your friend. It doesn't take much to detect doctored Strava data and Tomtom even harder to fake. I'm sure there will be a queue of LRC members happy to oblige on the technical side there.
- But he has lied about stuff before so he must be lying now, like that bronze medal in triathlon in 2004. Oh someone's found something on a 2004 forum putting Rob in 3rd place in those championships - yeah but it's on a forum so you can't trust that (yes, someone actually said that)
- Well what about his PRs - no way he's done that. Well recently reported running 5:47 mile by a well respected figure, and that after running best part of 2000 miles (even if you exclude the hours sitting in a jacuzzi in the RV) So if he maintained that pace it would give him a sub 36minute 10k. Maybe a little less inconceivable that at some point in his past, maybe ten years ago, training for that distance he might have hit 5 minutes under that. I'm sure he can let us know, but maybe after finishing this thing.
- Yeah, but his claims for his first three marathons are unbelievable. Meaning I couldn't do that and no one I know could. But lets say 99.999% of people couldn't but the 0.001%, by some evolutionary hiccup, do have that capability. That would mean in the UK 600 people could. Maybe one of them went out and found they had an unusual capacity for running and recovery and decided to just keep going for the rest of the year covering 373 marathons and ultras in that time.
- Well if he made up all this stuff, he probably made up other stuff like being in the army. Let's check that. Oh, he was and he was in the triathlon team. Oh forget that.
- Look his charity page here says he raised £0. oh but this justgiving one says over £60,000. Better investigate the charity. Bound to be fake.
- I know let's send over some of our most respected (OK some of the younger LRC members are catching up here) running figures to catch him out. They arrive and report a change of perspective, noting that he is a genuinely nice guy (sorry, I know character references have no bearing on this, although character assassinations seemingly do) and that comparing him to Steve Warshawer. As predicted, comments about age and beards appeared though I hadn't guessed the smoking ones. They also say there are questions yet to answer, which means they are yet to be answered not that they can't.
- What about his other records, the one where he beat Dean Karnazes's longest distance without sleep? All fake. So I and others crop up to vouch for that and posted my strava link for the 60 miles I ran with him through the night to 350 miles when I handed over to Kev (first and only time I've met him but feeling some kind of kinship now!) for another 23. I missed the protocol about not revealing your identity on this forum so have been googled and then had my handle used to post false messages. Changed my handle, thought I had registered it but hadn't so had impersonators again. Registered new one but have still had someone using the new one. Isn't that the point of registering it? Ah well. Just ignore anything from arealpersson that doesn't say registered

5) this is the most inexperienced team imaginable to take on a task like this. one of the most amazing things is that they have gotten this far... and they are not even ready to kill each other. I will confess to having helped them out a time or two. (at least I hope it was help), it is just not in my nature to watch someone kill themself.
6) I can confidently say RY has covered everything since we got there on foot.
7) lost in all this was a truly inspired performance by RY today. (during my shift) he left Effingham at a painful walk, classic multiday deadlegs syndrome. he tried several times to launch one of those strings of fast miles that got him yesterday's total, but just could not get it going. he walked on into the start of serious heat. we had been doing the math, and it looked like he was dead meat. the only way he could get today's miles in was to start running, and his legs were shot.... then he somehow forced himself to run... and run....and run...until he managed to bail out his day, and have a chance to repeat the process tomorrow. rayk has a picture of RY during this stretch. I hope he can post it somewhere. it is worth a thousand words.
8) there remain serious questions about the first part of the run. I hope they do have the data that will present a believable explanation for all of the discrepancies. if not, the "record" (should he make it to NYC in time) should not be validated. even if he did the entire run, if the supporting documentation is not airtight, records should not be counted. ... I still consider this a possibility. my impression is that the RY team looked at the data going out on the tracker page as funsies, merely intended to entertain his fans and direct people to where he was. equally possible is that inexperienced personnel and loose organization will leave them without the documentation they need.... I do not know. auditing the data was not part of the assigned task, and there is not time to do so, even if it were.

I found that on this forum, but it's a cut and paste from somewhere else - changed at the beginning to say male, but refers to female throughout then is obviously for a female attempt when it goes to 'page 24'. Without seeing what Guinness sent to RY, speculating about whether he has to be in front of or behind the RV is pointless.
