Who determines what is news, chief? The government? But I thought you folks didn't trust people in government.
You know, there are lovely countries all around the world where the government does in fact, "force the 'news' outlets to simply report the news". Perhaps you would be more comfortable in China, North Korea, Russia, Cuba or Venezuela.
I could go on but perhaps we can keep this short with:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press..." - worthless rubbish, no?
It's fairly obvious to anyone that isn't protecting their flailing tribe (you) that "news" is NOT the majority of what is broadcast on CNN, MSNBC, or Fox most of the time. Again, I'm all for implementing measures that keep a network's stupid agenda out of reporting the news.
The local nightly news does an excellent job of keeping out of politics- why can't the 24/7 news networks do the same? Oh, that's right. BECAUSE IT'S NOT NEWS... IT'S ENTERTAINMENT.
These crazy folks on the Left are basically fighting for "news outlets" to be able to spin / mislead / lie as much as they see fit to achieve their goals. They see it is a powerful tool that has been used successfully for 20+ years now. Without it, we'd have to talk about the issues, as opposed to running through the old, tired identity politics playbook ("racist!!"). It's the same folks that took the "if the DNC/HRC campaign could have kept their lies and collusion more protected, she would have won" stance. They don't see how much this garbage truly undermines democracy.
Not surprisingly, this is the same side of the aisle that blocks "not liberal" folks from speaking at universities.
