Ok so this Easter Sunday the topic of conversation is going to be your dream running YouTuber collaborations. Pick 7 YouTubers you get to have round for dinner. The whole dinner will be filmed and uploaded for YouTube to devour.
Mine would be:
Matt Fox, Nick Bester, Floberg, Scullion, Philly B, FOD, Tim Gross
How would that conversation go? Can imagine Fox and Bester immediately arguing as Scullion mocks their marathon times. FOD then bravely performs a citizens arrest on Fox after he tries to chin Bester. Philly B, Floberg and Tim Gross having a fierce game of UNO in the corner. Tim wins and then him and FOD tell the others they much prefer hanging out with itsonAndy, MARM, Donato , the old brooms and Edd Budd.
Scullion gets rantoJapan on the blower who says he will come visit Fox in his new Japanese abode.
crown my run brothers then walk in and start commentating. Spencer meanwhile is watching his sub 4 mile in the corner.
Then FOS sees you on the next one
whoever posted this trollop... how to say you are a virgin without saying youre a virgin
Maybe he could run 2:19:30 this week, but may sabotage himself by setting his sights too high suddenly
I reckon he'll have a good shot at around 2.18. I guess the real question is are these marginal gains worth the effort?
I can seem project sub 2.15 being interesting! However, he seems to be putting a huge effort in for marginal improvements. I am not sure he could improve that much.
how???
he hasnt got a PB at any other distance (nowhere near his half PB and 2 really poor 69min+ race efforts this season)
hes nowhere near the shape required to go under 2:20 in London. the guy cant do anymore mileage, never has any rest after marathons he trains as hard as physically possible. there is no more in the tank for this guy than the 2:19.45 on an absolutely perfect day.
his standard range for London would be in the 2:21 - 2:22 area
Truett Hanes ran 2:38 with a negative split, in jeans. It’s a strange crusade but I can’t deny that is very impressive run on that course .
I seem to recall passing this guy in the last 5 miles while he was struggling and then never seeing him again. But perhaps he passed me and somehow beat me by almost 4 minutes gun time. Idk. Based on the splits he passed me somewhere between 25k and 30k and never came back to me. But I could swear I was right by this guy after Heartbreak Hill at some point.

This is a case for MARATHON INVESTIGATION.
Does anyone know why he is doing this?
Seemingly just for the attention seeking pics/shorts of a juiced up guy running a fast(ish) marathon with his top off.
He still wears super shoes, and probably takes PEDs. It does not even come across as a crazy feat of endurance. Rather, just a guy making his race uncomfortable for the sake of it.

There is only one thing in life worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about.
He is getting clicks and probably making some sort of cash

Well the guys holds some sort of pull-up world record, slings "The Perfect Jeans" brand, and hawks a bunch of other products on his Insta. So certainly helps to build his brand. I can respect the hustle, although a touch obnoxious.
Looks like he recently ran at 2:42 at Austin in February, 2:50 in Knoxville in early April, and then this burner at Boston. I seem to remember being around this guy on a downhill after Heartbreak Hill, but perhaps that downhill was back in Newton. The splits after Newton are a bit suspicious, though. Perhaps all that lifting helps prevent the quads from getting smoked?
Seth is so stubborn. You can tell him the sky is blue he will tell you it’s green. He refuses to train smarter or get a coach because he wants to appear the smartest man in the room. He’s getting older and all that base training needs to be reinforced by speed and quality. He won’t do it though.

I guess as records go, the pull up one (previously held by embrace the grind master Goggins) is impressive.
I suppose he's becoming a professional self promoter. Sadly, this is the number one career ambition many young people. It's one of those professions where if they all disappeared arguably the world would be slightly better - at least there would be less noise and perhaps brands like athletic greens and gym shark would not exist!

I.e., see Seth's 4/22/25 video.
Perhaps you can fill us in on the SHOCKING training insights? I can't bring myself to watch something with such a click bait title

Speaking of, I was next to some runfluencer/YouTuber in the corrals that had a dude filming him from outside the fence. He's standing there doing some dumb standing warm-up drills nobody else is doing because it's impossible in the corrals (Or really much anywhere in Hopkinton). The ironic thing about the Youtubers is their attempts to make things look "authentic" are the most inauthentic behaviors of anyone at the event.
I can at least respect the jeans guy because he doesn't have a videographer following him around as he pans to the camera.

Um.....we are ALWAYS selling ourselves, in one capacity or another. You get to choose whether you buy or ignore....but i got a hunch, you'll be clicking away and binge watching the 2:30 journey just to be utd.

The photos of Track Club Babe and Matt Choi prove that all is wrong on the influencer world. Not that the photos of Believe in the Run or Kofuzi were any better!!!

A discussion of influencers and commercialism is perhaps tangentially relevant but misses the real elephant in the room, which is that the perfect jeans are still significantly more objectionable than even the jankiest of athletic shorts.
Also, while clearly thumbing his nose at practicality, I do wonder whether this man understands the true magnitude of risk present in this situation. Running a marathon in jeans sounds terrible in general, but he's one poorly-timed GI issue away from possibly the Worst TIme Ever.
