This is a horrendous hire.

Could someone please clearly lay out the standards for being a good hire on these boards? I'm just curious and I think we should nail something down.

I agree. I see this label placed on some hires, but then there is someone who has a resume that is very similar or less, and they are labeled at the second coming of the almighty?!?
For some, it is a bad hire for gender reasons, experience reasons, race reasons, failure to "develop" reasons, personality/meanness reasons, inability to deal with the opposite gender reasons, didn't pay the dues/age reasons.
And then there are some real nefarious reasons, which largely go unsaid, but which pop up on here from time to time, such as "relationships" with athletes reasons, substance abuse reasons, incompetence reasons, doesn't show up to practice reasons, etc.
So please, if you are going to toss a bomb, at least have the courtesy to justify it with a reason. Otherwise you are just clogging up the thread with words that mean nothing and that hold no weight, well as much as anonymous garbage on a message can hold...
ISU is starting a senior citizen home. Poor hire.

Mike is a quality coach and ISU should be thrilled to have him. Petros isn't on his way to Normal to take over the Sycamore jumps program. For the salary they offer you couldn't find much better.

Just outnof curiosity, what were they offering?

I get this is an NAIA job but I've seen this reposted literally 4 times in the past couple of months. Is that bad of a gig? Small school but still a HC job to put on your resume. Someone has to be desperate enough/willing to take it to get started right?

Since I'm an idiot and the link seems general, it's the Viterbo job.
Who has interviewed for New Mexico State Head Job? Pay?
So are North Dakota and Oral Robert’s the only teams without XC coaches, or are there more teams?
Took a break from this board because of all the negativity. I’ve been working full-time for years. I guess I could be described as somebody ready for the old folks home. Yet I get jobs. I spent my time building my résumé rather tearing other people down. Perhaps if you weren’t a discriminatory individual you might find a job. understand hirings go younger for the most part. Then when the current crop of youth ful or coaches fail they go back to us old folk. Perhaps if you sharpen your skills and résumé instead of being bitter you might find a position that suits you.
Sycamore lover needs to get off this thread. Has nothing to offer except trashing people and programs. Feel bad for ISU because it’s a quality program and this idiot is making them look bad.

$80k for the last coach

I interviewed for the job and took my name out of the running after. They have no facilities and very little scholarship money. The head cross country coach basically discouraged me from taking it during the interview. They did not do a good job selling the program.
Did Virginia ever advertise an opening for their sprint position? Michelle Freeman left for Oklahoma a little while back but I never saw a posting for her position at Virginia.
No facilities. Pay is $34K. Can't use the weight room. Can recruit women, specifically nursing and education. Men's recruits have been harder to come by.
