Yes, this ^^^. I'm not sure that the arc of the universe actually bends toward justice, but it definitely bends toward reality. Getting accurate data, regardless of which administration they might help or hurt, helps in assessing both the current situation and the actions or inactions that an administration takes to address the situation. ________________________
As an aside: The anemic (revised) job figures for recent months bolster President Trump's contention that the Fed should already have cut rates. But if he trumpets those figures, then he's admitting that job creation under his administration sucks. There's a real conundrum: How does he blame Biden for the whole situation?
Folks, it's a given that decent Americans shouldn't compromise their principles, and be scrupulously consistent, etc.
BUT please - just in case you might be inclined to do this - DO NOT kid yourselves that proudly demonstrating your consistency will have one iota of influence on the Trumpers. It won't. They are, in fact, deplorables, and not subject to influence through reason OR example.
Then the "deplorables" are not subject to influence through reason or Example?
Why are you here then. Are you venting? If you can not persuade the "deplorables' maybe your time is better spent on something more useful. Yes?
Do you see what they are doing? Not good for our country. It will get way worse if they fire the fed chairman. Banana republic stuff. . Not a good place to invest. Bad for the US dollar. But hey! Who needs a strong currency? We are isolationists now.
Kevin Hassett dismisses today's bad jobs report: "I don't think anybody can trust that the numbers are right whichever way they are going."
The standard setup for autocracy / authoritarianism. Claim the numbers have always been lies and nobody can trust them. Fire anyone competent or trustworthy and replace with loyalists who will say whatever they are told to say. From then on, the followers don't care if info is good or bad. All that matters to them is what their dear leader says.
I simply cannot believe there are people that are actually this stupid. "Adult" must be a troll, since he is clearly defying the laws of stupid ... as in, dumber than a brick. Then again, this does explain a lot if there are more like him out there, which is at the same time terrifying! Where do you even begin to explain to people like him the very basic concepts of anything, when they are too dumb or ignorant to understand even the basics ...
Or to know what the word "transitory" means.
It was such an accurate term that the secretary of the treasury regrets using it...

It amuses me endlessly that people like you have no idea you're stupid.
COVID inflation almost met the definition of transitory inflation to a "T". The only aspect you could argue about is the time period. Prices went up drastically due to shutdowns. Inflation sustained through 2022 as things began to return to normal and pent up demand and persistent supply chain issues kept inflation up. But in 2023, inflation dropped rapidly from a high of 9% to @ 3% and continued to decline in the the mid 2% range through 2024. This is pretty similar to post-WWII inflation that spiked in '46 and '47, but came down the next two years. That period is widely considered to be an example of transitory inflation.
Entrenched inflation is the opposite of transitory. The 1970s through the early 1980s are an example of entrenched inflation. The OPEC oil embargo set off a period of inflation that lasted for about 10 years with a number of double digit years. While COVID inflation was bad, it does not hold a candle to what happened in the 1970s and early 80s. And during that time period, everyone was losing their jobs.

Yes, Kevin, we're all fully expecting you not to trust any good numbers in the future. JFC.

It's been explained to you many times, Sally, why pretend?
Yes, venting, commiseration, and perhaps a sub-set of venting called "Therapeutic mockery of mo-rans (and nation-destroyers)."

stolen valor guy thinks he has principles...
Good lord...
There you go, talking about the lord again. It's a lonely life for you, adolt. Not sure how getting pounded by strangers daily improves it?
Project 2025 would purge the federal government of any agencies or personal that could possibly shed truth on Trumps performance. The conics reports would be untrustworthy.
Today we have this:
“Trump announces he has directed his team to fire the Commissioner of Labor Statistics. “Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can't be manipulated for political purposes.”
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump I was just informed that our Country’s “Jobs Numbers” are being produced by a Biden Appointee, Dr. Erika McEntarfer, the Commissioner of Labor Statistics, who faked the Jobs Numbers before the Election to try and boost Kamala’s chances of Victory. This is the same Bureau of Labor Statistics that overstated the Jobs Growth in March 2024 by approximately 818,000 and, then again, right before the 2024 Presidential Election, in August and September, by 112,000. These were Records — No one can be that wrong? We need accurate Jobs Numbers. I have directed my Team to fire this Biden Political Appointee, IMMEDIATELY. She will be replaced with someone much more competent and qualified. Important numbers like this must be fair and accurate, they can’t be manipulated for political purposes. McEntarfer said there were only 73,000 Jobs added (a shock!) but, more importantly, that a major mistake was made by them, 258,000 Jobs downward, in the prior two months. Similar things happened in the first part of the year, always to the negative. The Economy is BOOMING under “TRUMP” despite a Fed that also plays games, this time with Interest Rates, where they lowered them twice, and substantially, just before the Presidential Election, I assume in the hopes of getting “Kamala” elected – How did that work out? Jerome “Too Late” Powell should also be put “out to pasture.” Thank you for your attention to this matter!
What a f*cking toddler. Anybody that voted for this idiot should be embarrassed.
No, you f*cking moron. The economy isn’t booming like it did under Biden because you’re a barely literate dunce that graduated at the bottom of his class.
It amuses me endlessly that people like you have no idea you're stupid.
Dude I bet your IQ is like 110 at best. You're enough above average that you shine much brighter than the dimwits you surround yourself with, but you consistently show in your posts that you don't really grasp complexity beyond a pretty base level and that you lack more nuanced abstract reasoning skills. You use cheap tricks rather than sound arguments and just resort to calling people stupid when you can't sufficiently mischaracterize their argument in a way that suits what you're trying to say. You're nothing more than an angry bully.

I can only speak for me. This thread is a window into the mind of Trump supporters. I don't look at X or TS or Fox, or CNN, HuffPost for that matter, but I can see here what the talking points are.
I have neighbors and friends who support Trump and they are not evil people. We have conversations and agree on a lot of problems of our country, but differ on how to fix them. Often, I find that they are not well informed beyond talking points, as with here in this forum.
I realize I am not likely to change many minds, but will continue to attempt to show people real information to at least expose people to why there may be a different point of view.

One of your dumber posts...
Read the article. Yellen said that her main misgiving over using the term "transitory" was that dolts like you would think that the term meant weeks or months. She is basically saying that she wished she understood how stupid Americans have become and had not used terms that require a econ 101 class at a state school with no admissions standards.
