I personally think Seth is a shell of his former self. He used to come across with authentic enthusiasm. He's just going through the motions to produce content now.
enjoyed the latest one from the old brooms. Seem like good eggs who have genuine passion for running.
Crown my run at Newport was excellent.
MARM at Newport was very amusing as normal and did a fantastic time considering he did no specific marathon training. Only a couple of minutes off Donato who has been training ridiculously hard for the event. Both can be proud.
Best channel has to be Ran To Japan though. Guy is just infectious and not scared to stray from the orthodox in his training approach. Doesn’t tell others to do what he’s doing but doesn’t waste time saying things like ‘don’t try this at home’ blah blah blah. Some you tubers spend half their video doing those sort of things, almost babysitting viewers through it
Wearing a mask is virtue signalling. It does nothing else. It's also like every other virtue signal in that it causes controversy beyond looking like a twat. Evertime I see one I hum E-vapor-8......my vintage clear

He kind of seemed to be regaining steam and energy until the race... and then it's like the balloon deflated (again). At least the toxic positivity is gone and he's open about this being a "bad race" (more like bad training, but whatever).
I’ve always wondered what these guys do for work. I doubt the revenue from the channel pays for all those trips, etc. Whatever they do, they’re well compensated and get lots of vacation days.
Let’s stop posting about this Seth dude. Half the posts here are about him from 3 or 4 commenters and the rest of us have no clue who he is.
nobody cares. You seem obsessed with him and it’s boring for the rest of us. It’s hijacking any other topic of conversation. Talk about other influencers who are actually relevant.

Well, he used to have this own thread where that could happen to keep people like you happy. However, and they decided otherwise.

Amen. Or at least have a separate thread for the Trials and Tribulations of UK/US Tubers.
It's possible I have missed the mention of Liz "Resiliency in Running" on this thread, but I am AMAZED that there isn't more posts about her. Instagram's beautiful algorithm pushed her into my feed a couple years ago and I have not been disappointed.
What an absolute grifter of a human. Comments constantly on Bowden/Floberg/Fenton/etc hoping to channel some of their followers to her content... tattle.life has a pretty interesting thread on her if you're interest in a deep dive. Not sure why I'm so annoyed by her content but I can't stop following. Every marathon she runs is her BQ attempt, and every marathon completed she has the same preloaded excuses, "temps too warm, gels not sitting well, period started early, felt like stepping off the course, GPS was off on my splits, my training led me to believe I could hold the paces." Good Lord! Running for everyone is difficult. Show some resilience by not regurgitating the same excuses. Lower your expectations to match reality.
Anyway, she's "racing London" in a few weeks. Can't wait for her to post a long form vlog on youtube after about how she met the "old standard" and is "gutted" that BAA changed the new standard and how unfair the bell curve for entry is. Also, she's from the PNW and currently lives in London. Someone needs to tell her to stop saying "whilst" every third word. Also, why does she constantly refer to herself as "we?" I honestly have so many questions and am hoping she sees this and does an AMA on her vlog
okay though you made my day because I think the EXACT same things about this girl. tries all these British pronunciations with an American accent because she's desperate to fit in??? goes out way too fast in literally every race. shills whatever comes her way. puts Ben is Begging to shame. always tagging everyone because she's so chronically online she can't see straight. must think we're stupid if we think there's any sort of team behind her (that can be the only logical explanation for the over-use of the word "we"?). madness.
It’s only April 18 and she is calling her shot!!! Posting a screenshot of the anticipated temperature the morning of the London Marathon. I’ve never seen someone build in their excuses this early(aside from injury). Let’s gooooooooooooo!!!!!
resiliency in running is doing a masters yet thinks that she needs to gobble down a gel pre race and a gel mid race in a 10k as you need carbs to race well. That's all I needed to know about her, not a clue.

You must be new to LR because the irony is this whole thread originated to discuss Seth's channel, lightly hidden behind the guise of discussing all channels, seeing as the Seth mega-thread kept getting deleted.
Pay your respects to the Shoetube OG and let us watch his re-occurring crash-outs and unethical practices.

I started it because I thought Kofuzi and Believe in the Run were worse than Seth (they still are to this day, though the latter seems to be getting pretty desperate as they pumped out four shoe videos in two days and are dialing back the travel videos). There's this whole YouTube running ecosystem of Ben is Running, Matt Fox, Phily Bowden, Kofuzi, Allie Ostrander, Spencer Brown, Seth, Believe in the Run, Tommy Runs, Ben Parkes, Cole Gibbens, etc. Tommy, Kofuzi and Thomas from Believe in the Run seem to be the cool kids at the table in that ecosystem and are always going on the same sponsored trips. The group really doesn't interface with Seth much. Though Ben is Running is a Seth superfan and has made several videos about how big of a fan of Seth he is. I think Kofuzi and Phily Bowden were somehow business partners for a while (Phily's BF did video editing for Kofuzi I think, they mentioned it on some video as I recall).
Anyway, I think how the influencers change the industry is a big deal. And I don't think it's for the better, either in racing (where they're all getting free trips and travel to London and New York and other huge races and creating excess demand for them, while local races wither away), shoes (where because of ShoeTuber reviews, all shoes are 35mm+ and half of them have carbon/nylon plates in them) or coaching (where everyone thinks that you can just follow some stupid AI robot that's basically the AI version of a Let's Run troll typing "STAY HARD!!!!!" over and over and over, and run a PR, or nutrition where people are downing a drink with 43% the recommended daily value of sodium after they run a 4 mile run become every influencer is selling it. (I do use ELMNT for 15+ mile runs but only half the pack in my bottle; drinking that every day is nuts).
That dude may be the least ethical of running YouTubers and that's quite an achievement. Who can forget how he talked about how awful his Tokyo Marathon was because they wouldn't let his bike brigade ala Matt Choi onto the course!

here's my 3 mile first look, full review coming after 10 miles
That said, we all love Jake Barraclough here. But first of all, Jake is still improving while Floberg has plateaued (yes he just PR'd and maybe technically hasn't fully plateaued, maybe semi-plateaued, and at least isn't going backwards, but he's not making huge leaps in fitness like he had been even though he has another leap to sub 2:25 in him imo). So there's no reason to criticize Jake's training at this time. If he were significantly overtraining, he wouldn't be getting fitter.
I do like RTJ Jake but he literally just got injured for two weeks or so with a pretty standard overuse injury. It's his first injury for awhile but he's trying to get back to racing and running mileage quite quickly so I wouldn't be surprised if he got injured again and potentially worse.
Unfortunately there is a 'no pain, no gain' in elite sport where you have to train to the limit of your durability and even beyond it for buildup to key races to be competitive. However this can easily lead to cycles of injuries.

How many of the STCJ trips has Seth gone on? I understand that when he was the preeminent Shoetuber, he got flown to some races. However, the group Shoetuber trips from recent years don’t seem like his thing.
Also, a couple of the Running YouTubers have expressed that they are Seth fans - Floberg, FOD Runner, Midlife Runner, in addition to Ben Felton.
I personally think Seth is a shell of his former self. He used to come across with authentic enthusiasm. He's just going through the motions to produce content now.
Seth is so stubborn. You can tell him the sky is blue he will tell you it’s green. He refuses to train smarter or get a coach because he wants to appear the smartest man in the room. He’s getting older and all that base training needs to be reinforced by speed and quality. He won’t do it though.
