The last head coach was a romanian guy. The head coach before him was a mexican guy. The head coach before him was an american guy. I don't know the full history of the school/program but I think there's only been one female head coach and she was only coaching the women.
Got you. I think this coach has some HC experience. Seems like a very small roster. They probably have some funding issues. Not sure they will be able to participate in meets with that roster
Just seeing this now. Coming from inside the team, the position is to be the lead the men while assisting the women's team. There is a lot of turnover in BG, one coach leaving for better P5 position and one leaving for a HC position elsewhere, while the previous men's coach was let go due to code of conduct violations.
Not too sure on that, HC of program has been in BG for 10ish years and no sign of him leaving anytime soon. New AD within the past year, so things can change if there are no results. Men's HC position is always coupled with assistant women's coach position, but works primarily with the men.
what will this staff look like after the outdoor season? Will Thomas start from scratch or only add on?
My guess is he wipes its clean going into the SEC. The big question is what sprints coach can hire this time of the year. Looking at their finish both men and women finished top 3 in the Big 12 last year. So there is some talent there.
I am sure that he has several guys and two girls on speed dial to help put together his staff. It's best for him to clean house. Nothing against the current coaches, it's just has to be done. You gotta hire the people you think can carry out your vision and align with your vision.
Made it pretty obvious they were only going to hire a women of color. Don't envy anyone who is inheriting that program. I'm sure she'll be gone in 2 years tops to take a better D1 gig like the past 3 coaches.
Yeah I think if you're taking this job it's because you have no other good options.
