Yeah but WHY would Trump host Epstein and 28 underage girls? To what end? What was Trump hoping to accomplish by doing this?
Why?
To promote his pagent empire business. You do realize that he owned a model agency as well as the Miss Universe Organization back then, which also included Miss USA and Miss Teen USA.
🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Trump didn't buy those pageants until 1996. Your link shows the "28 girls" party happened in 1992.

You really don't see? He has to--and so do tens of millions of others.
President Trump is part of their identity, and they can no more cut him loose than cut themselves loose. I'm not the only one who has observed that they will defend him, excuse him, or blame somebody else for anything he might do. He could shoot Melania and Barron while they slept and not lose his core: tens of millions of Americans, many of them armed, and almost all of them voters.

Why do you defend this guy? It's sick.
👆funny, written almost as if this tool was actually at the party. Trump owner Miss America and I think even Miss Teen America…the shows you watched, enjoyed and never for a second questioned someone’s morality, let alone the Big Dog.
You vote for traitors, which is why MAGA believes in the second amendment. Trump will move on but this principle of yours never will.

That is, arguably, letting tons of them off the hook too easily. Making it sound like some deep, complicated, psychological issue over which they might have little or no control.
Rather, for most or all of them, it’s simply something they like. Or at least don’t dislike nearly enough.

Put another way, people fail to properly judge someone “on their side” all the time. Sports might be the most common, if trivial, example. But we don’t, or shouldn’t, excuse that. We simply say that they’re overlooking or excusing stuff they shouldn’t. It’s simply a failing, and properly judged as such.

👆Correction. All of them armed.
Duly noted that this is the only part of Ivyguy's post that you think needs to be corrected.
No recession. Price index, a measure of inflation, is only at 2%, lower than estimates of 2.2%.
More winning.
As predicted, the Q2 numbers are a whipsaw due to huge volumes of imports in Q1 to beat out Trump's tariffs. Q2 numbers are largely driven by a sharp decline in imports and a rebound in consumer spending. Business and residential investment was down in Q2. The remaining boost in GDP was due to an increase in state and local government spending. Annualized growth rate is at 1.25%. The past two years the growth rate for the first half of the year was 3%. Fed is going to hold interest rates where they are due to inflation numbers moving in the wrong direction.
The second half of 2025 is very difficult to predict. Trump seems to be content with bogus trade deals that impose tariffs that are not enough to move the needle on moving production to the US but also not enough to spike inflation in a way that would send a shock through markets. He seems to be targeting a 15% tariff on all imports. That will be inflationary but instead of slamming into a brick wall inflation that would result from Trump's April 2 proposed tariffs, it will be boiling frog inflation that will slowly sneak up on everyone as companies slowly transition from charging the tariffs to profit margin to passing on tariffs to consumers. The interesting part of that story is that a lot of businesses held on to post COVID price increases after supply chain costs came back down and just enjoyed big profits. So, they have room to cover tariffs in their cost model without going upside down on profits. But markets will start punishing companies who are having to absorb tariffs into their profit margins when they report those numbers on their SEC filings. Then, the prices will start going up.
There is actually a chance that the second half of 2025 could see a big rebound and solid growth. The EU passed a big stimulus budget. There is a lot of money in the US that is sitting on the sidelines (see investment numbers below) due to uncertainty over tariffs. If Trump does a bunch of BS 15% tariff deals, that could get that money off the sidelines.
The big risk for the second half of 2025 is continued Trump tariff chaos that keeps investment down while stoking inflation. If the second half has anemic growth numbers with rising inflation, that could make for a very rough close out to the year with bubbles in crypto and AI that are very vulnerable.
The GDP numbers for the 2nd quarter, like in the first, are being driven by wild swings in exports and inventories.
While GDP rebounds for a still weak 1.22% in the first half of 2025, under the hood final sales to private domestic purchasers looks quite weak. Let's dig in. /1 pic.twitter.com/tktYBlGKKG
