I keep hearing the Tar Heel faithful recite this but the reality is there have been some good coaches at UNC- Fox,Schumacher,Whit,Watson,etc. UNC XC Has been to nationals exactly 3 times in the last 37 years. Their women have one 4 ACC titles… ever. At what point do you decide there is something systemic keeping them from their potential?
Kentucky posted 3 openings for sprints hurdles jumps. Tim Hall has been announced. Who's been interviewed or tagged for the other 2 positions?
UNC had a great run under Whit on the women's side. Women's CC is where Carolina had success. They won the NC in the DMR on multiple occasions and produced multiple olympians. Men's success has been elusive at UNC recently, but they can reasonably be considered a sleeping giant if UNC wanted to make distance a priority. During that time period UNC only had four full time coaches. UNC has underfunded track for year. It is sad. If UNC wanted to go all in on track they could be great. It doesn't appear that is going to happen any time soon.
Perhaps the new track signals some sort of investment. Hard enough to convince donors to put out 15 mill for a program that yes, has historically struggled. Rebirthing the program wouldn't be a bad idea. Halis Meaders will be out next year unless new distance hire takes XC from 11 to 3 inACC in two months. The program did have 2 individual national champions, and selmon is tearing it up right now. so yes there is potential. more money wouldn't hurt

They are restructuring. Roeske and Larson will coach women's and men's track, respectively.

The school didnt really have a choice but to build them a brand new track... they kicked them off their old one in order to renovate for soccer/lacrosse. The 1k warm up loop, assuming its rubber, is pretty sweet tho.

So the rumor is Stanford hired a current IVY league throws coach. If that’s true, then Shutz is limited to either Wake Forest or LSU, If things continue as they have been with the power 5 circle jerk coming full circle.

Becuz head coaches would rather deal with an old bigot than a young inexperienced coach
