Now it appears RY's tracker has moved on up into Martinsville, and is stopped on Main Street, bringing them up to about 60.5 miles for the "daily" miles tally since yesterday afternoon's big stop.

If he gives the Bar maids name and also the stranger's phone number, I am pretty impressed. Somebody needs to take him up on that offer. A call to both of those individuals would be important.

If you request the number and they don't give it after saying they would then I am leaning more to the Grifter scenario.

Sifting though some of his mountain runs. No smoking guns, but a lot of interesting things.

At midnight on May 21, after a 5-6 hour break, he began his run up toward flagstaff. Grades vary from -1% to +5%, Elevation 6000+

He would run hard at 6-7:30 pace for 30-45min then rest or walk for 10-15min, assuming the RV is next to Rob as they claim it usually is.

The grade changes didn't seem to affect pace much at all, resulting in what would be an incredibly uneven effort. Altitude seems to have no effect either.

For example on 3 consecutive 12min sections he did:

1.6 mi @ 7:27 pace on a 4.6% grade (6:20 grade adjusted pace)

1.7mi @ 7:15 pace on a 0.5% grade (7:06 gap)

1.73mi @6:42 pace on a 2% grade (6:14 gap)

Either

a) he actually runs like that and he's an idiot.

b) he runs evenly but the tracker is in the van and is not near rob

c) he's riding in the van.

I've been sitting back and watching everything unfold. The latest thing I'm confused about is why you're alleging that you're the ones to get the follow up footage. The person (Asher) who posted the original video of the slow-moving RV through the town is also the one who got the follow-up video, at least as evidenced by the fact he posted it a full day ago. This is his post on the letsrun forum yesterday, with a link to the video, after he apparently tried to contact you regarding it. Is this not the right order of events? Did you all get the video and he somehow "stole" it from you and claimed it as his own a full day before you posted it? I don't understand...

In some ways, it mirrors what Vaz has been reporting about his crazy pacing(!). After this effort he did a lot of 20-minute miles walking into Flagstaff before their jaunt to the south rim and a nap.

Come on...this guy did not run this pace for a 10k in the middle of a "70 mile" day.

And why the hell does this guy run on freeways.

And why is he no longer running through the night now?

Agree with statement about Doubler basically plagiarizing LRC..

I have a ton of articles on the blog, and besides some Rossi commentary, I believe only Parvaneh/Larry article mentions any case that was posted here first.

This is what I see too.

Emporia is west of Lebo.

If that is RY sauntering through, the pacer continues well out of town and circles back. RY covers 2.7 miles from the CCTV to the presumed pickup point where the RV appears to stop after driving 30 mph during the backtrack. You can estimate RY has about 83-93 min to cover that 2.7 mi. Reasonable with walking and stopping.

Here's the real question though--if they just left him behind would they do it again immediately?

Because immediately after this fiasco, the pace picks up to 6:15 for the next 15.3 miles heading east out of Emporia towards Lebo. Either they dropped him again (off the back of the van-where he wasn't present in the original video), or he found quite the second wind after the walking bit in Emporium.

The tracker slows down when they reach Lebo, then they apparently sleep just East of Lebo.

If they've only left him ~5 times, that hurts their case. The tracker has all kinds of instances of him running paces we don't suspect he can do.

It is obvious that they do not like Asher at all. They won't use his name or anything. So they won't give him any credit of reaching out to them with the video. They would rather just say "they got it". Which means it came from anywhere.

Asher has been pretty fair and balanced but their vitriol towards him tells me that they know he might "have the goods on them".

Quick question. How would you verify either of those people aren't either part of the scam or real people but rural folks struggling (barmaid? Person out stumbling in middle of night)? Who have been slipped a few bills?
