The schools are in the towns where the kids don't have to run to school. The ones that live far away get in very good shape because they have to run to school. If they put the schools where nobody lived and all those town Kenyans had to run to school, they would have even MORE great runners!!!

That twitter video clearly shows that the Ethiopian, Tariku?, on the right is the one who broke the tape first.

Hopefully there's an electronic photo finish view from the side, and the results will be looked at quite carefully, without knee jerk reactions.

I think Kelsey ran with great credit. A lot of really good runners & seasoned internationals ran around the 40 minute mark so to only be 2 minutes away wasn't bad at all. In the context of a 40 minute race that's not a huge amount.

Hard lines to Matt. Better runs will be ahead.

No, she didn't. I think to have raced in it might have flouted some sort of sponsorship rules (Stupid, I know!)

All that rojo asked was that they wore it during their pre-race warm-up.

LOL- yeah I remember being at a clinic before a K with some Kenyans. They said no one runs more than 2 miles to school.

I watched most of this and

1) didn't notice any "viking gauntlet," though there was a sign claiming there was

2) saw nothing special about the "hill on a roof" thing. It was a hill like others on countless courses

3) found the beer hall thing cheesy. Sports fans drink to get rowdy, which XC fans don't know how to be. They clapped politely as expected.

4) puked when the commentators said the overall hilliness was an attempt to level the field between Euros and Africans, and laughed when it backfired and Euros did even worse than usual.

5) puked when they openly rooted for Ingebrigtsen, and laughed at them for not realizing he was too heavy to win

6) predict Solomon Barega will run 12:35 this year

The difficulty of the course was because they could never get in a rhythm. They were always going up, down, there were no real flat parts and it was sloped right or left.

Most of the comparisons were to other World XC courses. Hutchings said- XC runners are used to hills and mud and water.

The tent was cool- so what if they weren't rowdy.

Did anyone here how many spectators? They wanted 5000, it looked like more but it's hard to tell on TV.

Overall- I loved it. I wish the top Americans and Europeans would run.
