I fear this will be a boring thread since these two ladies can actually run.

Somewhat curious and inspired went out and ran a few miles slow, covering around ~11 mins/mile, to better grasp what they are attempting to do. Gait/carriage is important. Footwear will be too. Sandy Vi's big-sole shoes are an interesting angle on the task at hand.

I would have worn spring loaded shoes for dramatically reduced impact forces, which is the most important. There is nothing in this rules a spring loaded shoes for a transcon and I predict this technology will dramatically cut the records.

A barrel rolling counts as a wheel so would go against my technological innovation rule. Valid technological innovations would pass the common sense test where it must still look like running like spring loaded shoes or helium balloons attached to your back but you still maintain contact with the ground.

You raise a very important topic quite germane to the topic, which are GROUND RULES. What exactly are they? What exactly is the record that both of these gals are attempting to break, and are the rules clearly specified and readily available for review?

You stated wheels not wheel. A barrel is not a wheel. Just thought you should know.

How about a balloon? No moving parts. You could adjust the lift so that you don't float in the air. Your stride would be gianormous.
