The women bobbed and weaved, and backed into the guy with her butt and the rest of her body. This was an outright sexual assault in the middle of a triathlon.
The guy did everything possible to avoid her, and did not punch, poke, shove, or press his butt back into her.
Kids in the finish chute is crazy. You can't finish a race with little kids running around in front of you. Someone - most likely the kids - is going to get hurt.
That ought to be a DQ, if for no other reason than self-protection for the race and RD. Those kids have not signed waivers and if someone accidentally plowed into them and hurt them, there would be a great negligence lawsuit against a race and RD who permits kids to run around in the finishing chute of a race.
Explain your point because your really not making since. You say that it's reasonable to have to do but that must immediate exclaim a symble of being wrong for doing it and regretting doing it. This doesn't make since. You either should do it at all or are justified idling so which does not mean any apology is needed. Apology means regret and admitting in doing wrong.
Are you maybe doing a piss poor job of saying you apologies for being part of the situation at all. If so, that isn't practical and rather far feched.

This photo gallery sums up everything that's wrong with races today. Why do race directors allow the "children through the chute" B.S.? To sell more finish line photos?
Children do NOT belong on race courses when adult athletes are racing. Race directors, TAKE A STAND!

I am so thankful I am in oz. The hobby jogger pussification of sport doesnt seem to have hit hard here yet. Why can't people do something for personal satisfaction anymore? Many don't seem satisifed unless their friends and families watch them and constantly praise them.

According to the RD, everyone was on the wrong side of the road except Alison, which seems very strange but, if so and according to the diagram, they were all likewise incorrectly running a straight line, and should have been zigzagging sideways, knocking people out of the way with their butts.

Ultimately it was my decision that the athlete be DQ'd because even though she MIGHT have been in his way this is NEVER an excuse to punch someone else.
Why isn't the video being released. From everything I've seen so far, the athlete did not punch or shove Alison, but simply kept running past her. All the impact was caused by her actions. If indeed the video shows no punch, then the athlete should sue the heck out of this ridiculous RD for defamation and slander.
To his credit he sent back his award and medal without a major complaint because he knew that what he had done was not called for and done in a moment of emotion (rushing to the finish of a race).
I'm pretty sure he sent it back because of being DQ'd. Why is the RD talking for him? I've not seen any statement by the athlete, who seems to be the only one involved who continues to be professional, vs untruthful and hysterical.
It is also not apparent from the photo but he was running far to right when they collided when the run course was marked for incoming runners to stay left before making a rt turn into the finishline chute (about 20 yrds further down from the spot of their collision) and outgoing runners to stay to their left coming out of T2 (so as not to have any collisions).
From what I've seen of the photos and the diagram, this is totally false. I'd like to see the undoctored video for confirmation, and perhaps the eyewitness who made the diagram can say more about this as well.

Quite a full day for Alison Berna. First she screws up one guy's finish by backing into him for a personal, mid-race photo op. Then she finishes the day by having her kids jump in the race and screw up some poor guy's finishing photo. Way to go!
