acu is hardly dirt cheap,it costs about 20,000 to go to school there. Acu does spend tons of money on athletics and scholarships however which is why they have a very competive athletic program for such a small school.

"The teams that usually do well, minus ACU, are dirt cheap"
I know that ACU is over $25,000 a year and is not dirt cheap. They are the exception of a school that is expensive but does well because they pump a ton of money into athletics.
The only thing money does, is make a team fast instantly. Many people have 4 or more years to get good at running. Nothing is stopping people from going out every day and running 10 to 12 miles over three years. If you do 70 to 90 miles a week for three years with workouts, you will get good.

Right, but for most kids with a modicum of talent it takes ~2-3 years to become competitive at the national level over 10k XC. Now if you got money, you bring in guys who've been running 70-100 miles a week for a few years already. Then you got a crew of freshman who should be competitive each and every year of their eligibility, not just the last 1 or 2. That's why teams like ACU are at or near the top every year.
i think it is PUNK as hell to go out and buy a foreign team. a lot of coaches who do that can't develop talent so they use all that bank to buy athletes. it is bull that fully funded Division 2 men's teams have the same amount of scholarship as a Division 1 team. There should be a difference. It almost gives Div 2 teams that have the cash an advantage because there is no age limit, they can have 25 year old freshman.
All this mention of Western, Harding, ACU, Adams, how is Chico doing lately?

D1 teams have 18 scholarships for males. D2 has 12.5. While you're whining about getting beat by foreign guys, please share the amount of 100 mile weeks you have been putting in...
If you don't have the cajones to run against guys with scholarship money, then go d3. D2 rules allow giving scholarships, so live with it. Nut up or shut up.
Dang cry babies need to get over the foreigners and train your asses off if you don't want to get beat by them.
It's human beings against human beings. It's not like foreigners are aliens with some advantage over you. If you don't like the D2 or NCAA rules then get out of college athletics, nobody is forcing you to compete your doing it by choice.
If your sick of getting beat by foreigners then put in some real work like the ASU and WSC guys do, 80,90,100 mile weekly summer mileage.
I mean ASC, I knew that didn't look right.
Seriously stop your whining. I ran d2 and was glad that there were foreigners to run against. It made it so there was better competition which made me train harder and therefore run faster. I ended up college running 115 mile weeks whereas I probably would have run 80 if it was just americans I had to run against. The people who are whining about the foreigners are probably the first people who get on here when ACU beats a good d1 team and yells look at how good d2 is.

He OBVIOUSLY meant dirt cheap for recruiting money.
I thought this was the predictions thread, I didn't know we would spend most of the time arguing about the legitimacy of foreign runners. Lets get back to the basics!
i dont know what you are talking about by 12.5 scholarships. i know our team only has one full ride scholarship to split for the recruiting
In NCAA Men's Cross Country / Track & Field, the scholarship limit is 12.5 (18 for women). Division I is no different.
so whos the favorite, Baughs or Kirwa? the scary thing is kirwa is a frosh may dominate more so than nico dominated d2... and how far back will all-american be this year? top 50?

My guess is that most of the coaches at 'those' universities would love to be able to recruit more talented americans, but the nature or location of their respective universities makes it difficult to do so.
If you want to complain about Foreign Athletes then go ahead, but if you ever want to become a elite distance runner your gonna have to run against these guys. They are the cream of the crop and everyone knows it. Get used to it. I can get a spoon to clean out your !*&^.

Gotta agree with you there. That and the coaches don't normally go out of their way to recruit foreigners. Most of the foreigners need the education a lot more than the coaches need the foreigners. The coaches that go that route simply don't say no when they show up. And all things being equal, wouldn't you rather coach someone who wants it that much more?
so are there any big conference matchups this weekend besides western and mines?
