Wejo,
Thanks for not deleting the thread. I know that im a guest here and im grateful that Henry is posting.
I removed a bunch of posts becaue people were harassing a poster sending her emails accusing her of being a moderator when neither she or her husband is a moderator. The thread had degenerated to that topic instead of its original topic. Please stay on topic
wejo,
Do you have any way of re-posting some of Henry's messages that got deleted?
Thanks.
To Andrew
Thank you Andrew,
they need to keep up with me. Are they?
I thought they want to see my progress of my feelings,It seems like they don't understand when I talk about feelings.
Okay I will take a break for one hour see you.
Henry
I don't get a lot of these deletions. wejo explained the situation about the bickering between 16x and Sarah and that doesn't belong. But the essence of this thread and what makes it special shouldn't be smothered!
I'm afraid to post here again, due to being deleted again, for reasons that I don't understand.
(Doh - this is going to get deleted too!) :)
Henry, when you first came to America and moved to Washington State, were the cold winters there difficult to adjust to?
Did you know Samson Kimobwa back in Kenya? How did you find out about WSU?
Thanks
What town did you come from in Kenya? How far from Nairobi? Did they have training camps in Iten and Eldoret?
I like your website, by the way.

Let's put it this way: could Gebrselassie ever run 13:22 in a Spokane blizzard?
Here is an account of that race in the snowstorm from Deryk Bridges.
"I was in that race..... absolutely the most amazing thing I've ever seen.... at a distance... HA! Race was in Spokane at SCC in a blizzard..... Rono went out in the middle of our pack at the first lap in slightly over 70 seconds then I'll never forget when he said....
"Excuse me,... excuse me" and we gave him a little gap of space (we were huddled as a group because of the wind and sleet).... when..... BAM! He shot out like a canon.
He in one turn put a gap of over 50 meters on us and kept rolling. I think it was Joel Cheryot who was rabbiting ahead for him... anyhow...someone was ahead and he shot out and caught up, passed them and still ran that first mile in something like 4:16 or 17 and just kept going. Mind you, no one warmed up for that race.... the Kenyons were playing soccer and kick ball in the gymn. I get cold just thinking about it.....
I was a freshman at the time. Of course he more than lapped the field. And don't ask my time.. HA!"
Henry, what were your thoughts on that race? Was it a sign that you were ready to break the World record?
To Acropolis Now,
The question is how could someone from a warm weather in African and ran 5K in 13:22 time overhere in a cold brezzing climate?
Thank you for the question and you were there, how were your feet felt like that days since we are on the topic of feelings.
I was born from kiptaragon village no weather like Pullman Washington.Any other question
Henry
To RC Cola,
KIptaragon Village to Nairobi is the distance of 250 miles west of Kenya.
Iten has a training camp own by European now days.
Eldoret has a training camp also own by European Agenies.
Another question
Henry
To kimbo,
Thank you for your comments kimbo those years were the years a runner is just running around the field in a way of conviencing people into running that is why it was amazing as you say.It was catching your attention right?
Now this time around I'm talking. After sports car has been in a carage for to long, what does it happen in the system of sports cars?If you have to drive for racing again what are suppose to do in order to put it back to racing? These kind of questions I give it to runners to answer before I train them.
The things I'm talking about is that the joy of running and the feelings of it.Please keep reading my webste is due to change.I'm going to add 5 more pages.
Thank you and good night.
Henry
Henry-
Where did you do most of your running at WSU?
Chaplin took us down to the canyon once. 6 in the morning, freezing cold, suddenly the side door to the van pops open (van still moving) and we all jump out and head downhill at under 6:00 pace with no warmup. Chaplin's talking to us out the window, not yelling but telling us to move our asses and trying to make conversation. The guy next to me was saying "shut up Chaplin, I can't breathe". Thankfully after a mile or two there's a fence and he can't drive with us. We headed down some old road that barely exists on someone's farm. We turned back at a ridge where you could see the Snake River (the team legend says that you used to run all the way down to the river and back up - a very steep grade and twice as far). Turning back we started up the hill...3-4 miles of relentless uphill and after about a mile I started to get gapped by the rest of the team. I thought I was ok because a couple people were behind me but then I realized it was the two Kenyans on the team (our best runners) and another half mile later they dropped me and I was at the back running very hard uphill trying not to get too far behind. It was very cold and early in the morning and I was wondering if Chaplin was just crazy enough to leave without me. After the hill it would be another 10 miles back to campus so I thought I'd better get up there because Chaplin wasn't too patient and I worried that he might get a funny idea that I needed some more mileage and just leave without me...
It was a weird experience, so early in the morning and in the middle of nowhere, even for Pullman. I remember going to class at 8:00 feeling like I'd been on a secret mission because everyone else in my class surely never knew that I'd just hammered a run down in the canyon...
Unfortunately (or fortunately?) we never made it back to the canyon that year.
Do you remember running down there? Where did you run around the campus?
To Ran at WSU,
Haa mr.dr. I know you I remember you this is 1979 Moscow Olympic preparation you tell them.
I'm just getting up I was up by 3:57am,do you why my body telling me when get at this time? That is your home for today.I will baclk out the door.My feet has to be moving by 4: and some minutes.I will let know when get back.I feel goood.

Henry:
People I know, as well as my pet dog, also awaken during the summer around 4AM. It is just one of those things that happens. I know the local birds start chirping around that time, too. There is nothing unusual about it...in fact I find myself waking up around 3:20AM during
summer, however I attempt to go back to sleep, but am not
always successful.
Come to think of it, getting a run in at that time of day during the warm weather makes sense.
Hmmmmmmm.

Henry you must have read me wrong, I was at WSU in the 1990s. I've never been lucky enough to meet you. When I said Chaplin drove "us" to the canyon I meant the WSU team of 1993. We all heard about your canyon runs and when we ran down there and turned around at the ridge, someone pointed down to the Snake River (a few miles away and a long way down a very steep grade) and said "Rono used to go all the way down to the river and back". I was just wondering if that was a myth or if you really did run down there.
Maybe you remember doing similar runs during your years in Pullman. The legend at the campus is that you ran down there all the time.
My high school coach ran against you in college and always used to talk about your incredible performances (he witnessed your steeple record in Seattle). You and Aouita (who was still trying to break your 3k record) were my heroes at the time.
When I was at WSU I was lucky enough to get one of the last Nike posters Chaplin still had with you coming around the turn with your WRs in the corner. It is still hanging in my parents house...
You are a great inspiration and I wish you the best in your comeback.
To Astronomy
So it is not something Henry Rono created. It is normal thing to get up in those hours right?
Comeback and explicite your answer in another way.Yes I use get up even before I start think about this comeback of running for wrm at 3:57am.

To Ran at WSU
123 minutes, from hipps down calves, quads, are very sore fitiques, the pace was very slow per three minutes, the same spot I was yestarday in 39 minutes today was 42 minutes.I feel those areas are itching at this time when I get up from cat-nape I couldn't even walk to the bathroom and to open the cooler. The other day was shoulders down to hipps, but not today.I was dragging my feet around the house.I feel like taking to hot tab.
see you.
Henry
To XC GUy,
I think I have answered your question,on the road nowdays most of the time because the light on trammway.wehn I turn around and i'm still have extra-powers in my knees I could turn on manual east to copper hill climbe that thing for perhaps 30 minutes it depends how I feel by then.About the pace,is how I feel.
Henry
To Wazzou,
Of course I was surprised on one morning when I got up.The entire field every where covered with white stuff.I didn't even know which direction I should begin my morning run,I feel depress that day.Something was on my way.But it was very cold though that morning. When I arrived WSU the area was the sun in the sky,but for few hours it dispears and WSU is all dark.
